We were really torn when writing this review. Overall the quality of hotel and furnishing was high, however there were a couple of issues.
The hotel was pleasant, very spacious and and very modern. We booked a standard room and were very pleased with the sleep quality. The bed was very comfortable and humongous. It was very quiet, we couldn't hear anyone else unless they were in the hallway. The light was perfectly shut out
The bathroom was good; the bath was deep and the shower had good pressure.
The TV was of good size and we enjoyed the in room facilities. The Nespresso machine was fantastic, as was the iPod dock.
We did, however, have a couple of negatives. Although the negatives were rectified quickly, we felt it fair to relay this information on. We dropped our luggage with the hotel early in the morning before check in, and had emailed the hotel previously to make sure this was ok. When we arrived to check in, we found that only two of our four bags had arrived in our room, with the two missing bags containing passports, cash and other personal items including medicine.
When we had dropped off our luggage in the morning a concierge had joked about how our items of value may be sold; which in hindsight, whilst we were sat waiting for our bags to show up was quite worrying. The bags were found after an hour (when we had to look through other people's hotel rooms) and we were informed that we'd be given a complimentary bottle of champagne by way of an apology and to help us relax after the stress caused. The bottle didn't find its way to our room either!
We relayed this information to our booking agent, who very swiftly spoke to the hotel. The hotel manager was very quick to rectify any issues we had; he improved our stay greatly and gave us a full refund for one of the nights. The concierge who helped to locate our luggage was very helpful and seemed almost as relieved as we were when the bags were found!
In the hotel's welcome booklet, there is a note saying to ask the hotel about their fantastic walking routes around the Borghese park, however, when asked about these routes the hotel had no advice to offer and just stated that it was a beautiful place to visit.
On another negative note, there were quite a few scuff marks and some of the finishing touches could have been improved.
We only stayed in the hotel for two nights, our second night was very enjoyable. The second night was drastically better than the first and if in Rome again, we would revisit the hotel without any concerns.
