“"eccellente"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

A view of Rome is like a home away from home.We stayed there for a week in July. Olivio and Daniel are great guys and they took care of us very well,
The Location is excellent with most attractions nearby, The B&B is very clean, rooms are sound proof and service is excellent.
During our week stay, our youngest daughter who is10 fell ill and it was late at night. Olivio called the doctor and waited for him to come. When the doctor advised that we took our daughter to the A & E, he had no hesitation offering to drive us to the hospital considering it was past midnight and he has been working all day. He drove us to the hospital and stayed with us until the early hours of the morning to make sure that we were okay,he only left after our daughter was admitted to the ward.Next day, Daniele visited us at the Hospital with a big box of pastries for our daughter. He was there to make sure that we were okay and taken care of by the Doctors and Nurses, they both kept in touch with us by Text every day till she was discharged three days later. We can't thank both of them enough, they were very caring, friendly, supportive and most of all they are very down to earth and keep you laughing all the time.
we will not forget them both and we keep in touch with them, and they are invited to come and stay with us whenever they visit England.

A view of Rome is an excellent B&B. The whole place is meticulously clean. The beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is very modern and well equipped. Daniele is a very gracious host. When we arrived in Rome our airlines had lost our luggage. Daniele placed multiple phone calls to the airlines to help find the luggage. We received it a day after we arrived. I do not think that would have happened without Daniele's help. He was also very helpful with sight seeing tips and gave us several suggestions on where to eat. If you stay there, take his advice and eat where he suggests. Every place he suggested was fabulous. Daniele even invited us to dine at his father's restaurant on our way to Cinque Terre. Unfortunately, we got lost and was not able to locate the restaraunt on the coast. The bottom line is if you want to stay in a clean modern room that is in a great location with wonderful views from the room, stay at this B&B. This place should meet all of your expectations.

We were greeted by Filippo at the door downstairs and taken up in the lift to the 6th floor. He checked us in and took us to our room, the Ottaviano. He showed us how to work the air-conditioning and television. He then asked us what our plans were for the rest of the day.
We had a tour not long after we arrived and had not eaten yet. He took my husband to the window and pointed out a decent panini place, gave us a map and showed us the best route to our tour's meeting location. He also recommened a dinner location where I had one of my top 3 pasta dishes of the trip.
The next morning we woke up late (oops) and were greeted around 10ish by Livio when I meandered out of the room. He'd kept our croissants waiting and immediately offered to make me coffee. My husband was a few minutes behind me and he prepared his coffee immediately. Livio was so helpful. Also drawing us out a map to help us with our daily excursion plans.
I only wish we'd stayed here longer! It was great. This was my first bed and breakfast experience and they set the bar pretty high for everyone else!

It is unlikely that I can say anything that will add to the superlative reviews here on TripAdvisor - suffice it to say that A View of Rome is a great place to spend your time in Rome if you want a down-to-earth experience in a fantastic location.

I am a regular client at 4- and 5-star properties (Westin, Intercontinental, etc.), and have high expectations when traveling. I will warn you - this is not the Westin Excelsior. You will not have bell boys whisking away your luggage, and you will not have l'Occitane soaps. You will not have a mint on your pillow at night, and you will not have luxurious 1000-thread sheets. You will not get 24-hour service, because the owners are usually only present if you are checking in or checking out. If all that is very important to you, read no further and make a reservation at the Westin.

What should you expect? You should expect a simple B&B on the 6th floor of a building that overlooks Piazza del Risorgimento and the Vatican. Expect a comfortable, clean room with a queen-sized bed (two of the rooms), or a queen-sized bed and a single bed (one of the rooms), or a room with single bunk beds (one of the rooms - this one overlooking the courtyard and not the Vatican). Note - the triple and the bunk bed room can be set up to be conjoining, and is perfect for families with children. Each room has its own bathroom, with a toilet, bidet, and walk-in shower. Each guest gets a bar of soap and a sachet of shampoo, as well as a soft bath-sized and hand-sized towel. There are extra lights for make up, and a hair dryer, and the bathroom has an exhaust fan. Each room has a small hot pot and several sachets of coffee, packets of tea, and creamer. There is a small, flat-screened TV with a huge selection of satellite channels. There are reading lamps by the bed, a generous wardrobe with hangers, and a self-serve safe for passports and money. There is an individually controlled (and very effective - even in August!) air conditioner (split unit) in each room. The room windows, although overlooking one of the most busy squares in the city, are triple glazed and the noise is wonderfully minimized. There is a small dining area with enough tables for the guests - good for breakfast and good for sitting and planning each evening.

So - why is this a 5-star B&B? Because of the service and the personal touch. The owners take great pride in their business. Each guest is met by one of the owners (in our case it was the friendly Livio) and walked through the amenities. The owners give wonderful recommendations for local (non-touristy) restaurants and trattorias, and will make reservations for you for transfers (we came from the port of Civitavecchia after a cruise and were met by a minivan), taxis, and tours. The owners will give you suggestions (don't go this place or that on a Saturday - wait until Monday) to make your trip better. Livio got to the B&B early during our stay, and made breakfast for us according to our mood. One day, it was fresh croissants that he picked up in a local bakery. Another day, it was made-to-order omelets and fried eggs. As much cappuccino as you want. Or espresso. Or americano. Or tea. Of course, you could also have cereal, yogurt, etc. All with a generous helping of Livio's suggestions for ways to make your plans come together more smoothly. Gregarious Luisa came each morning to clean thoroughly, and her laughter was contagious.

Staying in A View of Rome was like staying with friends, with the convenience of being able to retreat to a private room whenever one wished! Livio treated us like he had known us for years, and it is clear that his TripAdvisor awards were earned.

Do consider this B&B instead of the usual chain hotel. Besides a view of the Vatican that no other hotel can boast, you will have the personal attention of Rome's best concierge and omelet cook, and you won't pay ridiculous sums of money.

Location: a slightly upscale residential neighborhood in Rome, which is walking distance to the Vatican, walking distance to the St. Angelo's Castle, walking distance to the Ottaviano metro stop, and walking distance to a taxi stand. Piazza del Risorgimento is also on a main and city bus tram artery, so you can get almost anywhere in the city with ease.

Put simply Livio and Daniele are the best hosts anyone could ask for. They really care about their guests and will do everything they can to make your time in Rome enjoyable. Follow their advice and recommendations and you can't go wrong. They deserve to be so highly rated. Big thanks for sorting out the transfer back to the airport for me when the one I booked let me down. We will be back!

I stayed here with my husband for three nights last week. We couldn't have been more pleased with this place. The room was pretty big and I thought more modern then they appeared in the pictures. The view and location were amazing. The doors have apparently been upgraded and are soundproof. It was very clean and the breakfast was great. They bring in a variety of fresh croissants (the one with apple was to die for) from a local bakery and they can make a mean omelette and cappucino. The owners were incredibly helpful assisting with our itinerary, finding restaurants, and mapping out the city. This place is great for people of all ages (we are early 30's). Don't think that B & B's are just for old people (which I used to think). At least not this one.

Yes that is right! My wife and I did a quick and admittedly rushed one day and night stay in
Rome following our cruise. After a hot and hectic train ride to Rome from the coast we were greeted warmy by Daniele and made to feel immediately comfortable that he was going to steer us in the right direction as far as outlining our itinerary for the day to see a few of the must-see sights we wanted to visit. His advice was spot on and we were more than pleased with his dinner recommendation. The B&B itself was everything we were looking for - clean, modern and our room was plenty spacious and very importantly cool (incredibly hot in Rome when we were there). For the money paid we felt like this was an incredible value. No question if we are fortunate enough to get back to Rome for a longer visit we will be staying at A View of Rome!
