“How lucky we were”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

We visited Rome for a three-day event at the Vatican and picked Villa Magnolia mainly for its ideal location. How happy were we when we realized that it is also a welcome oasis in the middle of a rather hectic city! We heard a lot of people complain about horrible Rome hotels with horrendous prices. How lucky we were to be able to say - we found the perfect hotel! Rooms spacious and clean and elegantly furnished; an exceptional breakfast to start the day; beautiful green gardens to spend a lazy afternoon in. It might not be the closest place if you want to go sightseeing but it's definitely worth the 15 - 20 minute walk to Trastevere or St. Peter's square. We can highly reccomend and will hopefully go back soon.

A lovely weekend break for a belated birthday present which we shared with our best friends Sue & Keith. A lovely villa and garden hidden behind a big wall, a little bit of paradise in Rome.
Thank you Sante for being so friendly and helpful.

We had the experience of our lives at Villa Magnolia. From the lovely garden setting to the welcoming staff to the comfortable rooms, it was exactly what I had hoped for. Meeting Sante and his family gave us a view into the Italian culture we really enjoyed. I would highly recommend Villa Magnolia for its comfort, service, garden and the excellent care taken by our hosts to make us incredibly comfortable and welcome. Bravo and grazie!

Lovely to return to this green haven after being in the heart of the City. We really appreciated Sante's warmth and helpfulness, which couldn't be topped, and sitting drinking tea on the pleasant garden terrace in the late afternoon sunshine. The rooms are comfortable and there is a good spread at breakfast.
As others have commented, the location is a bit out of the way but you can walk down into Trastevere (down some steps, so harder coming up!) in about 15 mins or to St Peter's in 15-20. We ended up spending quite a bit on taxis but thought that was worth it to be sitting in that garden. You just wouldn't get that with a city centre place. The road outside is fairly busy (or maybe just average but with crazy Roman drivers!) and has no pavement, so it's not the place for a stroll, but we didn't notice the noise once through the garden door and our room was at the back.

Room Tip: We had room 5, at the back, which has 3 single beds. The only downside was that the 3rd bed is an i...

A beautiful tranquil oasis within walking distance of the eternal city. Booking was easy and the excellent service started even before we arrived. We were made most welcome for the duration of our stay. Sante and all the staff were attentive without being intrusive and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are stylish and very comfortable providing peaceful tranquillity at the end of the day. We will return!
