“Just booking our next stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

We have stayed at Villa Magnolia Relais several times and we keep coming back here! It offers easy access to Trastevere, which is perfect for dining. The accomodation is spacious, the grounds are tranquil and the service is excellent. The continental breakast has pleanty to offer and this can an be eaten indoors or outdoors. We have received a warm and friendly welcome each time we have stayed. If you dont want to keep walking down the hill check the buses out which take you down to Trastevere and from here you can walk in to to Roma to see the sights or catch a tram.

Room Tip: The apartment is great if you are travelling with children.

We had the most wonderful time and would have found the whole experience quite hard (because of the heat 40C most days) if it hadn't been for the lovely sanctuary on the hill that is the Villa Magnolia Relais, with the most wonderful breakfasts, all surrounded by the scent of jasmine and the sound of birds. A lovely spot in the heart of Rome. The air conditioning was a godsend, and quiet too. The room spacious, chicly decorated (greys and whites) the bed comfortable, the shower good, shade on various terraces in the lovely garden. And delightful hosts and 'maids'. We would highly recommend the Villa Magnolia.

Walking down the hill to the Vatican is easy and the bus stop about 10 - 15 mins away. Going to Trastevere is trickier at the start, but once you get to the Janiculum Hill gardens you can take a short cut through and then down the steps into Trastevere. It only takes 15 mins, even in the heat. And all of Rome is ahead of you. Wonderful!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are probably quieter.

Villa Magnolia is an oasis in the midst of Rome. My wife and I truly loved Rome, but it was great at the end of the day to step through the gates at Villa Magnolia and be in a little slice of paradise. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The rooms are spacious (extremely so), well built, and quaintly decorated. The A/C worked perfectly which was a god send in 38 degree Celsius days in Rome. The complimentary breakfast was beyond enough. This was by far the most comprehensive "free" breakfast I've ever had and cappuccino was perfect.

Beyond all this, Sante was a fantastic resource to help us plan our days in Rome, look for great places to eat (where the locals eat) in Trastevere, and helped us with just about every aspect of our trip, from scooters to trains.

I would highly recommend the Villa Magnolia to anyone staying in Rome, especially if you're spending time at the Vatican as it is very nearby.

Loved our stay. it was very hot and the garden was so tranquil and cool, Very hospitable and the staff an asset. Breakfast was delicious, we took out time each morning and enjoyed it outside in the sunshine.
Downside is the road out front, very dangerous to walk to the villa, though if you used taxis all the time this would never be a problem and the distances seemed a little more than stated.

The hotel certainly lived up to the good reviews...nice comfortable modern accommodation, great breakfasts and the staff, especially Sante the owner, could not have been more informative and helpful. The walking, however,IS a problem, the narrow roads to Trastevere somewhat unpleasant. And everything is further than we were led to believe, ie St Peter's is a good brisk 30 min walk, the Vatican Museum an extra 10. The bus is not close either. A perfect place if you have a car or are happy to taxi often and a terrific restaurant just 10 mins walk away! WE loved the outdoor breakfasts and the relative peace.

Room Tip: Room 1 is quite dark!

After reading so many great reviews about Villa Magnolia, I made the reservation....and my expectations were surpassed! The Villa is a very special place.... quiet and private, gorgeous landscaped gardens, beautifully appointed rooms and a lovely staff. We were a bit worried about not being in the city center but after a long days of sightseeing, we were so happy to retreat to the beauty and calm of Villa Magnolia. My husband, six year old son, and I had one room (my son's bed was even in a little alcove away from our bed) and my parents had the room next to us with an adjoining door... a perfect set up. Though the villa was great for our family, it is also a very romantic setting. We really utilized our charming patio...luxury hotels rarely have this much private outdoor space! With the exception of walking to a few great restaurants a few blocks away and Gianicolo park, we all taxied to most sites but it was definitely worth the extra money to stay in a little piece of Roman heaven. Thank you Sante and staff.... we hope to return some day!

This small hotel has large and nice rooms and a fantastic garden. The only drawback is that there is no sidewalk in the street outside the hotel, so you have to walk some 100 meters with cars passing by in high speed. But all in all, the experience was very good! Very romantic place to spend our honeymoon.
