It is a magnificent place, even though became touristic over the years, it is still serving the best coffee and a great, great Granita.

“Fantastic cappuccino”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

Our apartment had one of those typical Italian coffee pots that you put on the cooker. My sister went into Tazza D'Oro to see could she find out how to operate this. The cafe does a big trade in selling coffee as well as serving coffee. The guy in the shop part explained all about the coffee pot and suggested what coffee to buy. We had great breakfasts from then on. It was really good coffee.

We also started dropping in most days for a cappuccino. They do a seriously good cappuccino and only charge €1.10 for it. This compared very favourably with a very mediocre one that we had near the Vatican for which we paid €5 and another in the Pantheon square that cost €8. Tazza D'Oro is just slightly off the Pantheon Square. It is treat to just go into to it and inhale the smell of the coffee.

“BINGO, best coffee in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

You would think that finding a great cup of coffee in Rome would be the easiest job in the world, but actually it is not. Most cafes it seems have a Nespresso machine out the back or something and then serve you that, and charging eight euros for it.
Through a CNN guide we learned of this place and from the moment we stepped in, we knew this was the right place. Firstly, there are no tables, why not ? because the Italians drink the coffee standing up and quickly (hence Espresso). So all there is, is a long bar that stretches through the room. In the back they roast their own coffee and at the front, the baristas are throwing coffee over the counter in an insane pace.
We each had a cappuccino and it was just spot on, perfect coffee flavor, perfect levels of acidity and bitterness, with a silky smooth frothed milk. And with a price tag of 1,10 euros, I'll take these any day over the overpriced cafe versions.
Also, if you want to attempt to recreate their coffee at hotel, they sell their special home roasted and mixed beans there too.

We stayed at a hotel nearby and stopped in here regularly for our morning espresso. Love the smell of the roasting beans!

“be aware of you money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

I paid 20 euro note to buy 2 cups of coffee and 2 crossiants! However, he gave 5 euro change instead of 15 euro. And I awared that I read the review about the cashier steal your money. Be careful, since he did it deliberately.
