“Beware the unsuspecting”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013 via mobile

Visited this evening following the good reports - unfortunately left with a bitter taste and a very, very light wallet!

Not sure if it was my own fault but not speaking the language certainly gave the waiters the upper hand and two plates of bread deposited without asking if we wanted them added significantly to the bill.

The food was ok. Nothing better than that! A real disappointment were the quality of the additional vegetables - ?14 for a handful of chips, some frozen peas and a plate of very over cooked and mushy green beans.

Not a good night. On a short break, a ?100 meal was a shock. Yes partially my fault but whatever the circumstances, a real feeling if disappointment. Certainly no recommendation from us. If the food had been good we would probably have just put the cost downto our own nievity, however, it was not.

Fellow visitors - caution! Read between the lines before making this venue as a selection for your evening meal.

“Great restaurant, definitely worth a try”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Stayed in the Bailey's Hotel a few doors up. On our first night we had eaten early but fancied a bottle of wine and snack later that evening. We were made very welcome in Flavia. In fact, we booked for the Saturday night and returned for a beautiful meal. The waiters were very helpful with menu choices and overall atmosphere was excellent. A lot of famous people have visited the restaurant and as such there are pictures of them on every available wall space. This added to the character of the place. Definitely give it a go if you are in the area.

“Good Food & Elizabeth Taylor - Who Could Ask For Anything More”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

The owner met Elizabeth Taylor when she was filming "Cleopatra" in Rome, and they became good friends. She told her movie star pals, when in Rome, to go to this restaurant, and they did. All the walls are covered with autographed pictures of famous movie stars, primarily from Liz's era. A side room, which we saw but did not eat in, was dedicated solely to Her Beautifulness. The same owner was in residence the night we were there overseeing every aspect of his business, and all was impeccable. My wife and I were there in late January, 2013 and artichokes were just starting their season. We read about "jewish style" artichokes which means they are fried and we started our meal with an order. Absolutely delicious and probably addictive. I had the pasta carbonara and my wife had a creamy pasta with peas. I tried to steal her dinner without success. We each had a glass of their house wines which were delicious. A good night at a very interesting restaurant.

“Enjoyable Dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We dined here twice on our five day visit to Rome last summer as it was near our hotel. We sat outside both evenings and had an enjoyable experience. The staff outside were entertaining, attentive and very nice to our children. Our favorite dish was the cacio e pepe (a simple dish of noodles, cheese and pepper). Great dish to share with everyone at the table.

My vote is you sit outside, relax an enjoy a glass or two of prosecco while enjoying the delicious food.
