Description: Grillo Brillo restaurant in Rome is near everything: the Coliseum, the Roman Forum and the via Nazionale. This is a charming, slightly dressy sort of place, with panelled walls papered in minty tones, pretty peach table linens and origamied napkins. The fresh, seasonal ingredients fine their way into creative Roman dishes, with a special focus on daily-delivered fish dishes and excellent pizzas. This local eaterie attracts some starry names from Italian showbiz, so you may enjoy a bit of discreet stargazing, as well.

“Nice place away from the crowds of tourists.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013 via mobile

We ate here after a long day of sightseeing, looking for somewhere quiet that wasn't too expensive. Il Grillo was just that, it had a good, affordable set menu which we chose from and the meal sizes were generous. We were the only ones in the restaurant but it was a Wednesday night so maybe it gets busier on the weekend. Nothing amazing, but a nice place overall.

“A Rare find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

We just happened upon this quaint, small restaurant en route to the Colliseum. The wait staff (1 person) was stretched, but the food was incredible! I had a pasta with seafood dish that was piled high with mussels, clams, crayfish and shrimp. The prices were reasonable, too.

“Very good Lasagne; pizza was OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Small restaurant; one waiter; special on lasagne was great- salad, lasagne and dessert for 15E. Pizza Margarita was OK; house red wine was ok. Would look elsewhere for a meal in Rome.

“Eating in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Of course eating in Rome, Italy is an experience to be had. We ate at this little place near our hotel called Brillo Grillo that used a front parking space for outdoor eating. We had lasagna that melted in your mouth, about seven layers of a homemade noodle that was out of this world. A salad, some homemade bread and a fine wine and that's what Rome is all about and then they brought out a lemon flan type desert that was the perfect ending. I highly recommend this little place if you're in Rome and near the Colliseum.

“Below average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013 via mobile

We had pizzas. The taste was below average any Roman street pizza. The place is simple and traditional but the music does not match. Pricey for what it is. We won't come back.
