“A wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2009

We stayed at Annaluce for 4 nights - 3 at the very start of our trip, and one at the very end when we had to leave Verona early. It was excellent both times, and I would not hesitate to stay there again or to recommend it to others.

The bedroom is very large and bright, with a dresser and closet for those who need it. The attached bathroom is also large, airy and clean - though you may have to run the water for a minute or two to get it hot, all showers were very pleasant. The bed is firm and comfortable, and there is an air conditioning unit in the room, which we never needed to use. The window looks out over the street, and there is some city noise (including a violinist who played at the restaurant downstairs several nights!) Light sleepers may need earplugs after 6 or 7 am, when the city wakes up, but we didn't have any problems.

However, the real gem of Annaluce is the huge upstairs terrace. In June it was lush with greenery and flowers, shaded in covered section during the day, and high enough to get some nice breeze. We used the kitchen to make simple meals, chill wine, etc., as we spent at least a portion of each evening just enjoying the terrace. Breakfast was adequate, and consisted of the expected coffee/tea, juice, bread (dried toasts and packaged muffins, but served with a variety of very good jams) and cookies. Anna was respectful of our privacy, while being accessible and flexible in arranging for arrival and departure.

The location is great - a block away from metro line B, a 5 minute walk to the Colosseum or Termini, a 15 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain. There are plenty of restaurants, wine bars, and gelato shops nearby that are more frequented by Romans than by tourists, and a small fountain two blocks away that is the centre of young nightlife in the area.

My wife and I enjoyed Annaluce B&B, The Apartment has a Spaceous Bedroom and Private Bathroom with very high ceiling. The Living Room is to die for at least 22 feet by 17 feet with TV, WiFi and comfortable seating. Though it is a four flight walk up the building is extremely charming and 15 seconds to the Cavour Train Stop. The Kitchen, dining, lounge areas in the duplex section are private, pleasant and peaceful and the outdoor terrace that faces them is scenic and filled with exotic plants and seating and dining areas. Also one gets a more then a 180 degree view of the neighborhood.
It is in the Suburra section which dates back to being the first neighborhood in Roman times and was a retreat for the Roman Army. It is filled with restaurants, cafes, wine bars, shoppes, churches, and supermarkets. Also it is so close to the Colosseum and Forum area
I highly recommend Annaluce B&B
