We (my wife, 17-year-old son, and I) chose the Maison Giulia (MG) based on a recommendation from my niece. Arrived early in the morning from a USA flight; we made arrangements with Angela (MG representative) to have someone meet us at the airport and take us to MG. Flawless execution here - Raymond met us after we cleared customs and drove us to the MG. Our room had a double bed with a pull out sofa in a second floor room, with a bathroom and shower, directly over the front desk. Incredible windows and shutters - the hardware must have been at least 200 years old. TV was in the room, but we never used it. Apparently there is a WiFi signal available, which I occasionally noted, but never connected to, as I didn't have the password. There was a computer available at the front desk for guest use. Continental breakfast was served in a small room below the reception area. After our eight day stay, we made arrangements with MG to return us to the airport. Excellent customer service.

The only downside to this inn was the noise in the eveing. Our room was on a corner that had traffic noise and revelers from the neighboorhood that were out at night. We were prepared for this, and had earplugs that allowed us to sleep soundly at night.

All in all, it was a great experience. You can't beat the MG's location for walking to all the major sites in Rome; the Vatican, Coliseum/Forum, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon - all were within walking distance. I can't imagine staying anyplace else - a true Roman experience!

I searched long and hard to find an affordable, centrally located hotel in Rome. Maison Giulia (which you will find on the Best Comfort Org website) was ideal at £500 for 4 nights. Newly refurbed rooms retaining lots of character as befits its location in the heart of the old Ghetto district and a stones throw from Campo di Fiori. Spotlessly clean, reasonably spacious room with lovely shower room. Reception/breakfast area compact to say the least. Nice continental breakfast, very helpful staff. Dont judge it by the quaint 500 year old exterior.

Everything is within walking distance so expect some noise at night on the weekends from revellers leaving the bars in the Campo. Only to be expected in such a central and lively location. Good value would recommend it.

We arrived at Maison Giulia around lunch time on a mild Dec day (14degrees), the location was v easy to find but with a small plaque on the wall it could have been easily missed. However the location was perfect for exploring the Trastevere area and less touristy side of the river.

We were shown to a nicely furnished room on the ground floor with a huge window with big old fashioned shutters and beamed ceiling. The room was a little luxurious without the fuss. Aircon and heating and very comfortable bed, and a great shower too. A small minibar but no tea or coffee or tv. (we didnt need one though)

Wonderful breakfast the next day before we set off to the airport in a taxi arranged by Angela.

Perfect - would definitely go back

This lovely little Hotel is perfectly placed on the lovely atmospheric Via Giulia, a very short walk from the Ponte Sisto bridge over the river to the Trastevere and from the Ciampo de Fiori and Ghetto. It is also at the heart of everything. From here we were able to walk to all the major historic sites of Rome (but we could have easily got buses nearby if we had wanted to go further afield).

We had taken my mother for a surprise weekend and wanted to make the most of the time we had and avoid having to travel in and out of the centre each day, staying here made it possible to see everything very easily and also meant we easily tapped into the buzz of the city and immediately felt part of the local culture and not just a tourist in the mainstream.

The en-suite rooms are very comfortable, clean and well maintained. There is a small area in the foyer set aside for the light breakfast, which is a lovely way to start the day. Although there is some traffic noise (which you can't really avoid in Rome), we actually found it quite peaceful and relaxing here as it felt 'off the beaten track' and there is a great atmosphere and were not ever troubled by the noise at night.

Rosario and Angela were extremely helpful and very friendly and made our stay a fantastic one.

We would definately book this hotel again if we go back to Rome. We found this through a booking website as we couldn't find the website under the hotel name - but they do have one and so we would now book direct with them. You can view more pics of therir rooms (they have 7 all en-suite) and details on thieir website which is under their group name (Best Comfort org)
