My girlfriend and I went to Rome in March for a break away and had a perfect few days there. This was because of the city itself, the people, and this this lovely hotel and it's staff. Upon arrival we were greeted by Franco (the hotel manager) who we found to be so so helpful and considerate to our needs and requests. The hotel itself is located on the 4th floor of what appears to be a business block.

The rooms are very clean and very well presented and maintained. The staff are very help at all times and will go above and beyond in order to help. Breakfast is delivered to your room every morning at your requested time. The rooms themselves are very clean with nice wooden floors. There is a safe and storage area provided. The bathrooms are a good size and well supplied.

There is a bar across from the hotel which is nice for a drink. There are plenty of good quality restaurants which are only a stones throw away. The hotel is a 15min walk from the Spanish steps and maybe 30min from the Colosseum for the active. There's also a good bus system located outside the hotel which runs throughout the city.

Overall I would rate this hotel very highly for a break away.

Strange - I remember that before choosing Domus Inn I had read several reviews on tripadvisor.com and now I cannot find them at all.

My wife, my 10 y.o. daughter and I traveled to Rome last November. Though a standard triple room was booked, when we arrived we were told by the receptionist that we would be unable to stay in that room because it was very small and that he personally would recommend to pay a € 10 surcharge per room per night but take a deluxe triple room. So, the price became € 124 per night, including breakfast served each morning on a small roung table right in the room.

The superior triple room was allright, though still very tiny. I wonder what "the standard triple" is. Water leakage from under the bathtub was never repaired during our stay while every morning we reported at the reception that the problem still persisted and needed to be fixed. My wife was very disappointed with this, because after each taking shower we had to wipe out the floor in the bathroom and I felt like being a slave sailor bailing out a boat after a storm.

What breakfast was you can see from the photos I attached hereby.

The hotel is several blocks from Piazza Fiume where the most of buses, departing for the centre of the city and to Vaticano, stop. A 10-12-minutes walk will lead you to the nearest metro station of the blue line (No. 2).

The hotel is situated outside the Old Aurelian Wall, so if you take a taxi from a Rome airport (Ciampino or Fiumicino), DO negotiate the fare before placing your weight into the car: fixed price of €30 and €40 accordingly is not valid for any place which is not within the Wall. Usually the taxi drivers agree with the fixed price said above but I would recommend you to be attentive, otherwise you will pay an arm and a leg for your credulity: please-please first offer the driver the fixed price set by the local authorities.

As we are frequent travelers to Rome and I speak Italian, we did not find the hotel to be difficult to reach. Moreover, we would be even satisfied with our stay with the property if only there had not been that distressing problem of water leaking in the bathroom and lack of related maintenance.

The reception were very friendly and gave us a lot of useful advice what to see in Rome and how to get there.

  • Liked — The room was very clean and noiseless
  • Disliked — Bad maintenance in the bathroom

The Domus Inn is fine, but it’s not a hotel but rather a very expensive B&B (typical of almost everything in Rome). It has no facilities i.e. no bar, lounge or restaurant, it’s just 8 bedrooms; consequently breakfast is served in your room. The standard rooms are ok but very small, however, the deluxe rooms are excellent. We stayed for 3 nights and had to upgrade on arrival to a deluxe room at a premium as we were joining a cruise the room just didn’t have enough storage space to store our luggage . The hotel is reasonably well situated with a bus stop right outside for the short ride into Rome centre, you could walk it but I would estimate it would take around 25-35 minutes.

We spent 3 nights at the Domus Inn in a triple room using Airmiles and what a find it was. Although, as some reviews have stated, the hotel isn't in the centre of things it has a bus stop right outside with very regular buses both to Termini (which is the central hub for other buses) and to San Silvestre which is close to many of the key sites and another bus just around the corner takes you to the Colosseum, This makes the hotel easily accessible and it's only a few minutes walk to the lovely Villa Borghese.

The layout of the hotel is unusual and for the first day, when the lift wasn't working, the hike to the 4th floor was certainly challenging, and worth bearing in mind for anyone with limited mobility. However, the lack of regular facilities is more than made up for by the charming and very helpful staff, by the cleanliness of the rooms and by the value for money.

I particularly liked the idea of having breakfast delivered to the room and found the continental breakfast of juice, yogurt, croissants, rolls, jam/honey and a hot drink more than adequate.

Having read about the noisy bar across the street I e-mailed the hotel requesting a quiet room and they responded immediately and allocated a room at the back of the hotel.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at the Domus Inn in July 2008 for 3 nights.

We were a bit taken aback when the taxi dropped us off at the front of what looked like an office block. The hotel is actually on the 4th floor of the building.

The hotel is a little bit out of the way but there is very good public transport available right outside the front door. The hotel was only 3 bus stops away from Piazza Spagna, which is then pretty much walking distance to anything you want to see (Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Forums, Colosseum, Piazza Venezia).

There is a great little coffee bar across the road where all the locals hang out. Plus the Rinescentre department store is across the road as well.

The room was very nice, air conditioned, and bathroom was clean (although shower did leak). Breakfast was served to the room.

I would probably give this hotel a 3 star but the staff were brilliant, exceptionally helpful, so on that basis it deserves a 4.

Overall, a good experience.
