My friend and I stayed at the Domus Inn for 4 nights in March.
HOTEL
Very small, only has 9 rooms. It is on the 4th floor, so you have to ring the buzzer if the building is locked. Rooms were average - nothing special.
BREAKFAST
Served in your room. You tell them the night before what time you want breakfast. It's good to do this early, because they can't do all the rooms at the same time. So if 2 other rooms already requested 8am, you'll get yours 15 minutes earlier or after. Not really that big a deal, but good to know. I didn't really like the breakfast -- you just got toast, croissant, yogurt, orange juice, coffee or cappucino. If you like a big breakfast, this isn't for you. We stayed at other hotels in Venice and Florence that had a buffet breakfast and those were much better.
LOCATION
Walking distance to the bus stops. From the train station, it is about a 25 minute walk (a 35 minute walk if you are carrying luggage). We arrived by train, but was leaving by plane, so we inquired about getting to the airport. The first guy told us the hotel had a service to the airport for 65 euros. We asked another guy on our 3rd day, and he said there is a shuttle for only 18 euros that would pick us up at the hotel. Unfortunately, we needed at 5:30am pick-up, and the shuttle only runs after 6 or 6:30am. BE CAREFUL OF THE HOTEL FRONT DESK RIPPING YOU OFF!!! We felt the first guy should have told us about the shuttle when we initially asked about getting to the airport.
On our second to last night, we were leaving the hotel, and the front desk tells us that he would be switching our room for the last night -- upgrading us to a bigger and better room. We said ok, and then he said it will be 10 euros extra. We were confused, and said that we didn't want to pay to be upgraded, and that if we had to pay we were not going to switch since we were fine in our room anyway, and didn't want to pack up our stuff. The next day, a different guy tells us we would be moving rooms. After a lot of back and forth (they surprisingly don't speak English that well), he told us that he already gave our room away to another guest. It took a while for him to understand that someone else had told us we would have to pay an extra 10 euros to switch rooms, and he said that we would NOT have to pay. So, we felt like the other guy was trying to rip us off. In the end, we switched rooms and it was fine.
INTERNET FOR YOUR LAPTOP
5 euros -- we only used this on our last day, so I don't know if it's per day or for your whole trip. It was hard to find an internet cafe around town.
RESTAURANT TIPS CLOSE TO THE HOTEL
** Across from the hotel to the left, there is this amazing pizza place. I don't remember the name, but there is usually a lot of people there, and the pizza is flat and rectangular. The one with tomato, basil and cheese was my favorite. Lots of locals were eating pizza with shrimp and lettuce (I tried it and it wasn't too bad). They also have a lot of other varieties, and it was delicious!
** The gelato place that is along the same street is also really good.
** restaurant called Pizzaeria Bella Napoli has the best bruschetta. Pizza was excellent. The tomatoes was sooooo good! It is just 3 blocks away from the hotel - always crowded after 8pm. We came back to the restaurant for dinner our last night, and the lasagna was really really good. Via Alessandria, 13/15/17. Tel. [-]. It was on the corner.
** Spaghetteria restaurant a couple blocks away -- not that great.
Overall a good experience!
