Location wise this is a gem, right at the back wall of the Vatican. Easy to find and handy for sight-seeing - seriously - less than a five minute walk to the main entrance of the eternal city.
Eight spacious suites, all new with two flat screen televisions, one in bedroom and one in sitting room - though what you'd be doing watching telly in Rome! - and a small kitchenette hidden in a wardrobe.
Very lovely receptionists, though had to laugh when I saw on a website that they: 'have no elevator but there is a 24hr porter.' I struggled up most of a flight of stairs with a big case, laptop and hefty handbag before I was asked (by the receptionist leading me to the room) if I needed some help. Eventually the laptop was carried up for me. Not for the weak of hand..
There's double glazing so most of the sound from the busy road outside is filtered out - but not all. Having stayed in Rome before, however, I think heavy traffic noise is just parr for the course.
The place is spotlessly clean and the shower is blessedly powerful. Just don't, under any circumstances, take their advice and go to near-by restaurant 'Papa Max' - dreadful place altogether. And there are so many other nice looking places (and busier) on the way there. I did want to try 'Goose' just up the road and around the corner, seemed to be full of locals but the night I went it had gone on fire.. Instead went to another place just few doors up from L'Angolo on the same side of the road. Modern looking with bright orange chairs. Fantastic food, (enjoyed some amazing sea bass) old fashioned attentive service (complete with middle-aged flirty but not sleezy Italian waiter) and a good ten euro cheaper than the awful Papa Max.
The substantial breakfast, which is delivered to your room (I'd recommend ordering it for fifteen minutes earlier than you need or want it if you have somewhere to be) is usual mid-european style. Bread, cheese ham etc. The museli is lovely, just make sure to ask for cold milk.. Nice fruit and fine coffee.
It's only open three months and have to say I was very happy with my stay, which was a business trip.
Will be returning to Rome for work pretty soon and will certainly suggest that I stay here again. Especially now I know where to eat!
