This is a small guest house (3 or 4 bedrooms?) housed in an old apartment building. We chose this accommodation as we were arriving late by plane, and wanted somewhere close to Termini Station. We arrived around 11.30 pm at night and the kind and friendly host was waiting for us. The room had a large comfortable double bed. While not in the most pristine condition (walls could do with a repaint), it was clean and comfortable. Aircondtioning was included which was appreciated as it was hot. The bathroom was awkward to move around due to the design, but it was clean. We paid Euro 99.00 per night and stayed for 2 nights. We then transferred to the Arena Guest House for 2 nights (at Euro 120.00 per night). In hindsight, we would have just spent 4 nights in this hotel and save ourselves Euro 42.00.. Being close to Termini meant being close to public transport and the trains, and there were plenty of cheap eating places at the station if you were on a tight budget. The surrounding neighbourhood was not a concern for us. Breakfast (croissant + tea/coffee) at the nearby "Milky Bar" was a great introduction to daily life in Rome.
While not as charming or elegant as some of the other hotels we stayed in while in Italy (La Venere/Florence, Locanda Antico Casin, Hotel Centrale/Bellagio), there was nothing to complain about. If you are on a tight budget (as we were) this hotel is a great option. It helped us to get off to a great start on our Europe trip.
We also recommend buying the Roma Card (Euro 23.00). It gives you free access to the first 2 sights. We used it to enter the Colisseum and avoided the long queues. We also used it to see the Roman Baths (Terme di Caracalla). It also made it easy to hop on and off the buses or metro (without needing to pre-purchase tickets).
