My husband, our 10 yrs. old son and I just returned from Rome. We usually stay in 5 star hotels, but this time another family planned to join us so we chose to stay at the Romeo al Babuino occupying all 3 suites. The suites are quite large for Rome, beautifully and intelligently designed, very modern and clean - a nice reprieve after days full of sightseeing. The location could not be better - loved the proximity to the villa Borghese. Must agree with other travelers that by having your own keys you do not feel as much of a tourist and have lots of privacy without being bothered by the unnecessary services of an overpriced concierge. Within steps there are many restaurants, a supermarket, taxi stops, laundry and a dry cleaning service.
But what makes this place extraordinary is the owner. The services he provided exceeded far and beyond any luxury hotel we have ever stayed in - among many things that he helped us with, he bought our train tickets to Florence and placed charges on his own card without any surcharge (!)- our 5 star hotel in Florence charged additional 25% for the same service!.; My son has gluten allergies, so he found a gluten free bakery in Rome and personally drove to purchase the breads for us. We certainly did not receive these services in Florence or any of our travels.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone - the location, accommodations, and courtesy of an honest owner are unsurpassed. Thank you, Giulio!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights in June. Located on one of the best streets in Rome, close to the spanish steps and other sights. Metro station only couple of hundred meters away. We stayed in the "Anna Suite" which was great. Satellite TV, broadband, and your own private phone number too. It's really 3, very well designed apartments that's a great place to call home when in Rome. Safe and secure also. Definitely recommend staying there and would stay there again without even considering anywhere else. The owner/manager is very helpful, friendly and really went out of his way when we left something in the room after we left.

Best part of staying here is that you feel less of a tourist and more of 'part of the city'. Romeo al Babuino is only a colletion of 3 rooms and you get your own front door key. Owner is warm and friendly and his travel tips are very useful! Proximity to laundry and convenience store a plus. Collection of books, expresso machine and tea available in lounge 24-hours a nice additional touch. Only downside - rather small shower stall. Also if you want to cook you'll need to inform him or housekeeper to get additional kitchen equipment.

We just got back from a three day stay at Romeo al Babuino.

WOW !

It already started prior to the arrival when Giulio, the owner, send a mail asking whether we wanted a limo service from the airport, obviously same rate as the taxi but no rip off possible. So there we are at Rome airport with a smart italian waving a plate with our name and off we went. I could get used to this.

We arrived and the location could not be better. 100 m to Piazza del populo, at the foot of the park of the Villa Borghese, 400 m away from the Spanish steps. It just keeps rolling...

The place itself was gigantic. Normally in cities like Rome, London or Paris rooms are either small, noisy or small and noisy and obviously overpriced. Here you get big and quiet. And clean. And friendly. Free WiFi in the room as well. What more do you you want ? Oh yes - democratic prices in the mini bar. Unless you consider 1.5 Euro for a can of beer dear.

You live like a roman amongst romans on a very upmarket shopping street. You get the keys to your place and you're on your own. Breakfast seems to be served at a Cafe nearby. We did not bother with it and went (well) to a cafe nearby.

Our suite did have a kitchenette as well, of which we made no use.

Would I recommend this place ? You bet. It's that good I recommend it to my parents. Thanks to a very lenient check out time (what time DO you want to check out) we could keep our room until the last minute, grab a cab this time and head back home from a very pleasant and relaxing time in Rome.

Thanks Giulio !
