Rome is such a layered and complex city. Without the three tours we took with Enjoy Rome we would have been completely lost. Our first tour was the Ancient tour. We saw all the main sites. Our guide Fabizio an archeologist had an extreme amount knowledge. We took the Vatican tour with an American girl named Inger. The group was small and the guide was able to weave us in and out of the complexities of the museums and really breathe life into the art and times of Michealangelo and Raphael. Our third of the Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere tour was maybe our favorite. An intimate tour off the beaten track. We are so happy our guide Rosa showed us this charming area.

With Jeannette as our guide, we enjoyed several hours of walking through the center of Rome, focusing on the work of one artist, and then sampling wines and snacks at a charming little wine bar. Jeannette was fun, knowledgable, and very enthusiastic about her subject and the city.

If you visit Rome, even on the shortest break, make sure you book a walking tour with "Through Eternity (---). The prices and very reasonable and the guides are so knowledgeable and fascinating that the hours just fly by. We would never have appreciated the sites of Rome as much with a guide book. This company's guides really bring history to life and they are so enthusiastic about their subjects that the tours often overrun at no extra cost. The groups they take are small (up to 15) and are all English speaking, so you definitely get the personal touch. Well worth it and a must for a visit to Rome.

We booked for a guided tour of the Vatican Museums with Enjoy Rome Walking Tours before we left the UK . Without Jeanette our tour leader, we would not have survived! There were about 17 of us - no group is larger than 25. On arrival at the Vatican, we were able to go straight to the head of the (very long) queue and start our tour. Although we shared the experience with what seemed like a million other people, Jeanette managed to make it all special. She expertly steered us through the labryinth of galleries and corridors which eventually led to the Sistine Chapel, the climax of the tour. What wonderful things she drew to our attention. I don't think we could have taken in much more art & sculpture, but we did enjoy everything we saw. Jeanette told us much about Raphael and Michelangelo and also about the shifting power struggles in Rome since the early days of the Roman empire. The tour was quite long, over 3 hours but it would have been impossible to do it in less time. This visit is unsuitable for young children and a good degree of stamina is required but it was worth it.
