Rome is a beautiful city to visit. There is so much to see I would recommend hop-on hop off bus and try to stay as near as possible to sights even though hotels are very basic and very expensive. If you come from airport by bus you must validate your return ticket in the office at termini station before boarding bus. The guides for the buses are most unhelpful and rude. In general we found most of the people of Rome very rude and abrupt.Take good shoes as there is alot of walking. We found the food delicious everywhere we went.Stand at counter if you pop in for a drink its much cheaper than sitting outside. After paying you can bring your drink outside. As in every city beware of taxi drivers they ll rip you off given half a chance. Always get a price before you get into one.The subway is very cheap. We used it to go to the Vatican. We only went for three days- its not enough. There is so much to see I would certainly recommend four or five days. We were exhausted from rushing around trying to see everything.
