“Great gelato, stressful ordering when busy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

We were told by multiple sources that a trip to Rome was not complete without visiting Giolitti's for gelato, so after dinner at Piazza Navona off we headed. When we entered it was, to our eyes at least, chaos. It was crowded, and it was not clear what the procedure was to go about getting gelato. (You have to buy it first at the register, then take your receipt to the back and give it to the folks behind the counter telling them what flavors you want who will then give you your gelato.) If you are feeling particularly decadent ask for the creme on top of the gelato.

The sitting areas inside and out are only for customers ordering from waiters. If you want to avoid the chaos of the gelato counter take a seat and order in relaxation. There is a slight premium to this, but you get to sit in air conditioning and enjoy your gelato as opposed to everyone else who is left standing in the alley street in the heat, dodging the occasional car as the gelato melts.

“Yummy Gelato!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

While I was in Rome this past March, I visited MANY gelaterias...probably at least 3 a day! Although I don't like the idea of standing in line for a number, then paying, then standing in another line to actually get my gelato, then finding out that you actually have to pay to sit inside (gasp!), this was still my favorite in terms of the actual GELATO! You get to pic 1, 2, or 3 flavors and then...you get fresh whipped cream on top of it! Absolutely ridiculous! I had the pistachio and the darkest dark chocolate on a chocolate dipped cone even! Whoa. Heaven. Then standing in the room with a hot cup of tea was nice as you get a chance to mingle with others. The location is on a nice little street that is lovely to be on as you can people watch while coveting other people's gelato flavors. This is a must for gelato in Rome!

“Heaven on a hot day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

We were tipped off about this place in France as been the ONLY place to considering to visit for an ice-cream in Rome. And we weren't disapointed. Only 2,50 euros for a double scoop. it was outstanding value and highly recomended for any visitors to central Rome..
