“The finest Italian I have ever eaten in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Their racing mad here, the walls and windows are covered in racing pictures and autographs, the racing elete eat and have eaten here, why? It's not smart, in fact it's very basic, no great chef, no professional staff( thank god), in fact it's a real family affair.Granddad, grandmum, son, daughter and grand sun.No menu worth talking about, just a hand written piece of paper.
The food, the food, it's so good, nothing fancy, just the finest home cooking, the portions, don't what ever you do eat before you go, starve yourself during the day. When they serve cheese you get 5 kinds , salami, ham, melt in the mouth meat balls, plus 2 vegtable dishes and that was just the starter, everything you read about Italian food can come true here, I cannot wait to go back, you must book, not known to tourists ,its full of Italians and you will know why if you can eat here, nice wine and an even nicer bill

“Hot Little Spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

Dress cool if you visit during the summer. There is little air flow and it's smokin' hot.
The food is good but I wouldn't necessarily return given there are lots of good places in eat in the city. We were not offerred menu but instead asked what we'd like to order. This felt a little bit strange. It would have been nice to see a list of options.
Overall, a little bit above average but nothing terribly special.
And the credit card warnings are true....be sure to take cash.

“Great find”

A great experience. No menu, they just tell you what is available that night. A family run business. The antpasti dishes were fabulous. You do need to book

“Home style food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

The concierge at the St. highly recommended this restaurant. As soon as we arrived, we noticed a sign at the door indicating that they do not accept credit cards. The tables already had some foods on them. There were small plates we traditional Roma foods. The portions were larger than tapas but less than a meal: buffalo-mozzarella and tomatoes, meatballs, veggies etc. All of them tasted very good. The waiter kept bringing more of these plates. The combination of no credit cards, food coming to our plate before we ordered and the lack of explanation, made us nervous. Eventually, we told the waiter that we would like to order from the menu, which we did. The food tasted really good, the wine relaxed us and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. In the end, it was a very nice home style dining experience, with good food and nice wine.

“Family style at its best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

We actually had an early dinner, by Rome standards, around 7:15 so we had the dedicated attention of the Maitre d'. She was great! We didn’t even look at a menu. We ordered most of her recommendations. The 1st course was great. I think we had 6 different antipasto selections. The meatballs with mashed potatoes mixed with tomato sauce were great. The prosciutto was outstanding as was the cheese plate of ricotta and gorgonzola. I only regret not ordering the mozzarella. We saw a few orders going to another table and it looked great. After all the antipasto we decided to share 2 pasta dishes. Rigatoni in a spiced tomato sauce and spaghetti with mixed veggies were very good. The house red wine was very good. For a family of 4 our bill came to 90 euros. Not bad since we had a whole bottle of wine.
Ask about the family history and the horse memorabilia on the walls. It will make the dining experience that much better.
The night we went the credit card machine was down so it was cash only. Be prepared.
