“Great Hotel!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Loved this hotel! Thanks Trip Advisor! Location was excellent, off the main path but only a few blocks away from plenty of Restaurants and shops ='s very quiet at night. If you have been to Rome before you know how important your sleep is after a full day of sight seeing. The staff was so very helpful with question and more than willing to recommend places to eat and make reservations or call taxis. Super great hotel for a romantic stay and the price is a steal in my opinion.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on 2nd or 3rd floor. We had room on 1st floor (ground) and had trouble getting cell...

I had the pleasure of staying here last week for a few days. I was in Rome for 2 weeks visiting family and spent the first half of my stay at the #1 hotel. The Donna Camilla was a far superior hotel and a much more enjoyable experience. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The breakfast was wonderful. The room was spacious and peaceful. It was comfortable, clean, dark and quiet. The hotel was beautiful and wonderful to explore. The down side was no internet connection in the room, although it was comfortable to use the internet in the lobby. There is internet though the tv but I was not able to get it to work for me. While the tub/shower was comfortable for me, it might be awkward for large or elderly individuals. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: My room was in the rear of the hotel overlooking the courtyard.

There is a real sense of occasion when you enter this former convent now hotel. As soon as you step through the door you could be in the middle of the countryside. Service is very helpful and friendly and of course you have the wonders of Trastevere within walking distance. Fairly expensive (we were there in high season) but nice comfortable and very quiet room overlooking the courtyard where you can have breakfast weather permitting

Room Tip: Overlooking the courtyard

I was very impressed with a recent stay. The hotel is almost an attraction in itself, and well worth exploring as it retains a lot of interesting 16th Century features. Staff are universally helpful and friendly and can assist with restaurant recommendations and bookings, the rooms are clean and well appointed, the breakfast is also very good.

The location is perfect for the bars and restaurants in Trastevere, and you can walk to most of the main attractions in Rome (we walked to the Colosseum in just under 30 mins). Its also worth heading up the hill behind the hotel for excellent views across the city. It would take a lot to convince me to stay anywhere else when i return to Rome!

The hotel is located in the best part of Rome. Here, you are within walking distance to all major sights in Rome, and still just around the corner from the most fantastic local restaurants; if you enjoy massages, there is a lovely Thai massage place just 50 meters from the hotel.
The hotel staff is very nice, helpful and they all speak perfect English.

The hotel is totally Marvin Gaye; every brick is filled with love and it’s the right place to bring romance back to life, so ”Let´s get it on”.

As they say themselves, the hotel is an architectural gem in the heart of Rome, built especially for Lady Camilla Savelli in 1642.

The rooms are tastefully fitted with antique furniture and plenty of space.

Let me finish off with the small downsides, which prevents me from giving the hotel 5 stars.

The Wi-Fi in the room doesn’t work properly, and when it does, it is so slow that you abstain from spending time on the internet.

The bathroom doesn’t have a shower curtain, so the entire bathroom gets wet when you shower, which is really annoying.

The restaurant does not serve lunch or dinner. However, this is just a small problem, since you have at least 50 fantastic local restaurants within 500 meter of the hotel.

The kitchen chef seemed to be very busy making breakfast, since the scrambled eggs were full of egg shells.

The bar is not equipped for many of the well-known international drinks.

Like I said, these small downsides do not keep us from coming again, and it makes me happy to look back on our stay.

We've just returned from Rome and found this hotel to be exceptional. Perfectly placed to escape the chaos of central Rome but with plenty of eateries and bars nearby. Staff couldn't do enough for us during our stay and the rooms were immaculately clean. They even left little Easter treats in our room over the Easter weekend. Lots of character and old world charm- if you're looking for something special then this is well worth the extra money.
