No visit to Pompeii is complete without checking the Villa dei Misteri, and it's not the easiest villa to get to. You have to head north of the city, cross the north necropolis and then walk a little more, as it's outside of the city boundaries. But the famous frescoes, probably the most famous of the whole town, and well worth the extra walk. Be careful though. It's easy to miss them if you don't pay attention... they're situated in a small dining room on the far left side of the villa, and you have to step out of the house, not far from the public entrance to the site is, and turn left before reentering the house, to find them.
