“Friendly Staff Like a Family Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

I booked this room online. It was close to the station (Pompei City, not Pompei Stavi!) and the entrance to the ruins of Pompei. English isn't their strong suit so be prepared for some funny interactions. The staff is very friendly and warm so that you feel you're staying with family.
The rooms were adequate for what you need to rest up. The a/c isn't very good but there is a refrigerator in the room.
My friend and I had to laugh at the towels which were more like wash cloths for dishes rather than proper towels. The bed sheet had a little stain which was disconcerting.
Breakfast is rolls and coffee and sweet bread.

Private garage included in price. Breakfast- coffee, milk, croissant, toast, jam, butter. Rooms are very quiet and have nice balcony for evening relax. Walking distance from old Pompeii- around 15 minutes.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and checked in. The front desk gave us a look like we didn't have a reservation. Then when they said they could find a room available they took us to our room. The walk to the room was an indicator of what was to come. It was dusty, dated, and the curtain that seperated a hallway was gross. As we settled into our room the tiles were dusty and broken, there was a few bugs, and the furniture was mismatched. My husband too a shower and there was no shower curtain, no amenities and it was not clean. I walked in and looked at the wall of the shower and saw a huge clump of dark hair stuck on the wall. It was so gross we left and didn't stay the night.

After waiting for a bus for over 2 hours, my boyfriend and I realized that we were stranded in Pompei, and needed to find a hotel for the night.
We were directed to the Villa Laura by the desk clerk of the Hotel Diana, which was booked. The Laura was timewarped from the 1950's...dusty old furniture, worn carpeting, dingy hallways. Our room was adequate, bur again, dusty and not very clean. I made sure that we checked the bed for bedbugs before we settled in for the night.
For 70 euros a night it was OK, but hardly what I would have picked if I had the time to investigate the hotel scene at a more relaxed pace.

The Villa Laura was perfectly adequate, however the details which make a hotel enjoyable to be in were not present. The bathrooms, particularly showers, were not pleasant to use. We stayed at the hotel in a large group of tourists, and we all recognized that standards for a 3 star are much less strict there, in comparison to Canada.

Excellent 3 stars hotel, with a charming 1920´s facade and warm wood furniture in the inside. Very ample rooms and a complete bathroom. Warm atention and a breakfast full of warm "cornettos" filled with cream or chocolate. Better than one of those breakfast which prevents you from a large walking through the ancient city. 3 blocks from downtown.
