“Do not listen to guide books and miss staying in Pompeii”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

The Hotel Forum is directly across from the less busy entrance to the ruins...really...directly across the street. We were able to stay in the ruins until closing time, leisurely wandering alone in the least touristy sections. This makes the ruins a remarkable experience. The hotel is beautifully decorated, has a lovely breakfast room, an elegant breakfast and a courtyard that is amazingly quiet. The staff was very attentive. We also used public transportation to go to Positano the second day of our stay. Yes, the town of Pompeii at night is devoid of charm, and although we found a really excellent pizza spot, the restaurant scene was strictly for tourists, but for the proximity of the sites, the elegance of the service and the pure wonder of being in Pompeii I do recommend the Hotel Forum.

A good location to visit the ruins of Pompeii. Very near to everything, shops, restaurants, churches and supermarkets. Really a pleasant boutique hotel, breakfast was very good.
Hotel staff courteous. Place is a little small.

Fabulous Hotel, wonderful staff, a view of Vesuvius and the Pompei Ruins from our balcony, lovely atriums and gardens to relax in, we loved it :0) we stayed for 2 nights and spent the whole day at the ruins which we highly recommend, we arrived at 10am and left at closing, 7pm, after covering 3/4's of the Ruins! Breakfast was good and we ate 1 evening meal at the hotel which was very good. We are already planning our next trip and will definitely stay at the Hotel Forum again :0) thank you to the Management and staff!

Lovely friendly hotel. We stayed 1 night in a quadruple room with boys 14 and 11. Room wasn't huge but was clean and perfect for our needs. Wifi was a bonus having been in Rome for 4 nights without! Free carparking and 5 minute walk to the ruins. Lovely meal in the gardens in the evening. Friendly staff. Good buffet breakfast in airy lower ground room. Would recommend highly.

Good hotel in great location for visiting the ruins as the hotel is just across the road from the entrance to the ruins. Very good value for money with free upgrade from a double room to a junior suite using coupon from Tripadvisor. Facilities good with very fast wifi and a good breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

I have stayed in many hotels around Europe and I was very disappointed with this hotel. Trip Advisor reviews have never let me down until now. Our very first impression of this hotel wasn't very good, we went to check in and the young guy behind the counter was less than interested to work there and spent more time on his Iphone than talking to us. He obviously was not happy to be there. We got to our room and were disappointed... who ever ranked this hotel as 4 starts did not see the room we stayed in. Old green furniture, the smallest shower I've ever seen (I'm short and 115 pounds and was uncomfortable in the shower) it also had a shower curtain that was too long so the entire bottom was dirty and stained yellow, gross! I have added pictures. The walls were peeling and the furniture all scuffed up. There was a supply closet next to our room and the staff was going in and out of it and they were SO LOUD. We came back to the room so my son could take a nap and there was no way he could sleep with all the banging. The walls were paper thin and there was space between the door to the room and the wall. I'm guessing there were nicer room? We obviously didn't have one. We stayed two nights and didn't know there was free breakfast until the second night, the guy at the front desk never mentioned it to us. The good things about this hotel were the free breakfast (after we found out about it) Also, how close it is to the back entrance of Pompeii and the lively shopping street it is located on. The outside sitting area was also very pretty, can't talk about the food though because we didn't eat there. We didn't need our room cleaned so we put up the "Do not disturb" sign and the staff still left fresh towels and shampoo/body wash in front of the door which was a nice surprise. I also have to say that during our second day in Pompeii we asked a question at the front desk and there was a woman there who was much more friendly. All in all we were disappointed with this "4 star hotel" if I could do it again I would probably stay in Naples and take the train in for the day because if this is the 3rd raked hotel in Pompeii I would be afraid to see the others.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgraded room, and not one near a supply closet!

We highly recommend this hotel. The reception was very friendly, the room clean, quiet and comfortable. Personal taste: we found the bed too firm for a perfect nights sleep. (who gets those anyway?!) The breakfast was more than ample. Best two aspects, the quiet with the nice courtyard, and the location.

Room Tip: we loved 29......NOT SURE ABOUT pool or fitness; I just could not unclick them.
