“Highly Recommended June 2013”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

We spent a full 7 nights here. Our room was a lovely place to come back to after our days out and about. The Air Con was very welcome as we had some days at 30-31 deg C. The bed was Kingsize and had a super comfortable mattress. The room was very clean and serviced daily extremely well. The Tv had many chanels and you could always find something in English if you fancy a bit of telly. There is free Wifi that doesn't even need a password so you are fully in touch if you want to be. There is a small supermarket straight over the road for any bits yu want which is cheap. Salvatore the owner is a great guy. He is very friendly and always has a smile. He will do anything for you and whilst his English is not perfect you always manage to understand his advice/directons/help. Breakfast was served by Salvatore up on the roof terrace at a time of our choosing and always served with a smile. This accomodation is in our opinion excellent, and good value for money. We tended to have a few days out, spending a full day in the ruins at Pompeii (Utterly superb/stunning !). We had 2 days out on the train at Sorrento (Cost peanuts about 4 euros each return) We also had a day up at Naples by train again peanuts fare. We visited the huge Museum there which is just next to Piazza Cavour Metro station, as well as the shops further down in town. My one piece of advice would be - If you intend getting a taxi to Pompeii from the airport always pre book it. Currently the going rate is 50 Euros and that can buy a lovely Mercedes with a top driver. We didn't! On our arrival a taxi driver approached us at the airport (taxi cab with meters) He drove us there and there is a double supplement to pay outside of Naples. He ripped us off. He wanted 120 Euros, but in the end settled for 90 euros. This was the only bad thing about the holiday. Whilst there for ur return we booked a taxi online through Airports Shuttle express.com and got the Lovely Merc on the way back for 50. But this is about Dolcevita - Yes highly recommended and Salvatore deserves our/your custom. - By Janet and Mr. Roy (Salvatores' name for me).

We stayed at B&B Dolcevita for 2 nights, my family of 5 had a great time, this B&B is in a perfect location, and Salvatore was wonderful, breakfast was great and the rooms were super clean!! I highly recommend this place. Salvatore would give you directions to go anywhere you plan on going. Train is very easy to take too.

My friends and I are college students from North Carolina, and we absolutely loved staying in Dolcevita! Salvatore was so so kind, and he made us feel completely at ease. From the moment we walked in he offered us drinks, and told us all about restaurants and attractions in Pompeii. Our room was spotless and Salvatore provided us with towels, soap, and even fresh cherries and oranges from his garden upstairs! For breakfast in the morning we were hand-delivered cappuccinos, hot chocolate, yogurt, toast with jelly and Nutella, and even fresh squeezed orange juice from the oranges in his garden!! We even ended up asking for another round of cappuccinos because they were so delicious! The b&b is right around the corner from the city center and some great restaurants, and Dolcevita is definitely the best b&b I have ever stayed at and I would highly recommend it to anyone coming to Pompeii!

I am not the first to comment on the welcome given to us by Salvatore. We were given the intial brief on arrival (which was in truth not the best time as we had been travelling since 0400!) We were given great little tips and advice throughout our 6 day stay, and with the help of sign language and Google Translate we managed to have some nice chats!.
The BandB is located about 50m from Pompei sanctuary station on the Circumvesuviana. Not a plush rail network by any measure but functional. Over the street from the BB is a very good local shop, which has a range of fresh food and the staple UK type foods for picky 8 year olds! The staff there were very good but got stumped when I asked for fruit squash (you will need to buy juice or ice tea, they don't do Robinsons!).
Inside the B+B are 3 rooms and we stayed in the Pompei room (kids in bunks and the double shown on the website). The room was clean and comfortable. Having a kitchenette was a real bonus for us because of our little picky child - having paid 15 euro for a plate of white pasta and some chicken we decided to cook ourselves. The shop over the street was great for all we needed to make pizza and pasta meals, salad and fruit. The kitchenette is equipped with a hob, small oven and a fridge. Other than that we had brakfast in the room or on the roof terrace, built a pack up from the little shop each day.
We stayed for 6 days and explored most of the usual sights. We found the ruins excellent and it was helpful that the kids entered for free to all the sites. We travelled by Circumvesiviana train which was generally easy and frequent. About 5 minutes after getting on the Alibus from the airport I was glad not to have hired a car...it is a utterly crazy idea to rent a car in Naples, and if you do always make sure you have not got a massive excess!!
Disappointing aspects of the trip were The Archeological Museum in Naples. Many of the galleries were closed or missed exhibits (because they have been shipped to London for the exhibit there). We found Sorrento a bit dull, mainly because we are not really shoppers. The trip up Vesuvius was going to cost us 110 euro so we decided to go to the cable car in Stabia only to find this was closed. We did go up the tower at the church (more a cathedral really) in Pompeii and that gave a fantastic panorama of the entire Bay of Naples. This cost us 9 euro so mr tight wad was happy!!
Overall I think this was a really worthwhile trip, one I have wanted to go on since I was 11(long ago!) On reflection I would have done 3 days rather than 6 because the kids got a bit bored with 'old stones'. There is not that much to entertain the iPOD generation.
If I return to Pompei again it will certainly be to Dolcevita, I don't think I will even look at anywhere else!

Room Tip: I would expect the room at the rear is quieter (? Capri room)

This is a gem in the middle of Pompeii. It is right next to the station and 5 minute walk to the ruins. Its not a 5 star hotel, but the welcome is more than 5 star. Salvatore the owner is more than helpful and nothing is too much bother. Go with his recommendations for restaurants - various prices but all amazing. Tip for the runs if you buy the 3 day ticket it doesn't mean you can ho into pompeii more than once - its one visit to each of the 5 sites! We nearly messed up here but pleaded ignorance and it worked.
Would definitely stay at Dolce Vita again.

A group of 4 of us stayed at the Dolcevita for two nights in October. My partner and I stayed in the Pompei room and our friends in the Capri room. Both rooms were very clean with comfortable beds and nice soft pillows, but only the Pompei room had a balcony looking over the street, though this was not a problem. There is also the use of a kitchen, which was great as we drink a lot of tea. Salvatore the owner, (i presume), was so nice and helpful, he gave us some good tips on where to eat, best ice cream and pizza, he also explained the layout of Pompeii new town and ruins and gave us all the info needed about transport. His English is not very good but far better than my Italian and he is so patient and really tries hard, what a lovely man. The location of the Dolcevita is perfect, just a few minutes from the ruins and some good places to eat and the best pizza place is a two minute walk around the corner, the name of it is Pizza Margherita and they were the best pizza's we had in Italy. I have stayed in lots of really nice hotels over the years but this little b & b was without a doubt as good if not better. If I ever go back to Pompei theres only one place I would want to stay and thats the Dolcevita. Thank you Salvatore.

Room Tip: Go for the Pompei room, really nice and a balcony, downside maybe a little noisy in mornings.

Salvatore is number one in Pompeii! Great breakfast, great room, and great value. This was our best B&B experience in all of Italy. They even have a rooftop where you can sit and have drinks, and the place is right next to the heart of Pompeii.
