“Take Care! Tome Cuidado”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

The La Vinicola is a good restaurant. The waiters are polite, the food is good and the price is fare. But the "FRATELLI LA BUFALA POMPEI" is beside the "La Vinicola" and you may be redirected (unconsciously) there by the waiters if you chose to eat pizza. Do not go to "FRATELLI LA BUFALA POMPEI". I had problems with the bill and with the change. I had to discuss and spend some time to get the bill and the change corrected (I ate 1 pizza - no way to make a mistake).

“not good”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

just dont go they rip you off and the food is not of good quality. You will be ripped off and feel cheated by lies that they tell you to come and eat at their restaurant.

“Lovely.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

Due to my broken ankle, we could not travel far afield from our hotel (Hotel Amleto) and so this restaurant became quite a regular. The staff were kind and funny (something you need when you break something on holiday!) and delightfully charming with our children. The unordered side dishes were great, my teenage son LOVED his risotto! There is an air of informal, relaxation - try not to be impatient when dishes do not arrive at the same time - this is, I think, part of the charm. Their kindness on our last night made me quite emotional - fully recommended.

“We still laugh about this place.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2012

Horrible, horrible! We still joke that we managed to find the worst Italian food restaurant in the world in Italy. We ordered an antipasto appetizer, and I spat out the meat the moment it passed my lips. My husband will still claim it was "mooseknuckle." Calamari (how easy is this?) was cold and flavorless. The "complimentary" shots of limoncello at the end of the meal, served in plastic dixie cups, tasted like swallowing lemon pledge.

Admittedly, I should have realized the minute we walked in that this would not be a good experience. We sat down at 9:30pm to eat and the only other people in the large space were a table of other American tourists and a rowdy European student group. We left most of our food unfinished and actually ate at McDonald's across the street to satisfy our hunger!

“Avoid this place, especially the menu turistico”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

We stayed in the delightful town of Pompeii so we could be close to the ruins and nearby Sorrento. The restaurant is near the ruins and looks quite OK from the street. Unfortunately we chose the 'tourist menu' for 15 euro each which included local wine. The pasta was OK but the grilled chicken was black on the sides and looked pretty unappetising. The 'local wine' both red and white was 'fizzy'. When we said it was not to our taste, it was removed and we had to buy a bottle of wine that was drinkable. The restaurant lacked significant atmosphere and ended up costing about the same of the superb La Taverna di San Guiseppe in Siena (see review) we ate at a few nights later. Avoid the Vinicola and go to Kobe in Pompeii instead.
