“Convenient Campground”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

I rented a caravan at a low rate. Very convenient located the Camping has all you need to rest and explore the Pompeii area.
Inside the Caravan there are 3 single beds. Very clean inside. Few tents around. Over all I can say is calm place to rest after a long day in the Ancient Pompeii.

Room Tip: Call in advance for reservation. Bring "OFF" to stay away from muskitos.

We were traveling in a motor home and I had read some reviews b4 we arrived, but we like to make our own judgement about places. Anyway we pulled up at the front office I got out and went up to the window and the guy was the friendliest bloke we had met in 3weeks travelling in Italy , as it turned out he was the owner. Yes it is small, but it is clean and they could not be any more friendly. They have a camp dog, a big old blonde Labrador who came and made himself at home at our camp on the 1st night. Yes pompei is in need of some TLC, but the ruins are good, if I were doing it again I would do Herculean 1st but, anyway the campsite is a great little place it is family owned, you are right across the road from the ruins. My wife and I would stay there again, we stayed for 3 nights,

After reading some very negative reviews we were expecting the worst. In fact if you are here to visit pompei ( which we found amazing) or versuvius then you could not ask for a better location. We are a family with 2 young kids in a motorhome. We beat the queues as it is literally 2 mins across the road. Whilst it is not a campsite you may want to stay for a week it is clean, staff are helpful and friendly, and there is a small pool ideal for children our age 7 and 5). There is also a bar and shop selling basics. During our 2 night stay we got a train to sorrento and the train station is very close. Sorrento is the gateway to the amalfi coast. We found it a bit touristy. I would recommend camping Spartacus to others.

Someone says, that southern Italy is third world country and in case of City of Pompeii, we can agree. There is really no reason to stay overnight in there. Ruins are surely worth visiting, but they can be reached by a short trip from f.e. Naples. And all campings, with Spartacus in the front, are mirror of City of Pompeii. This quite small and absolutely average place isn't expensive, but You will get what You pay for. We stayed for two nights in bungalow, which is tiny and dark cube with one hard bed, mini table, one chair and small, dirty and damaged shower. There is simply nothing to do in this camp except of uncomfortable sleeping. And during rain bungalows will transform into real greenhouse.
The restaurant is very simple, but OK, food is good and there is also a small shop, where You can but nothing than really basic ingredients and some croissant for breakfast.
The staff can be really annoying. Unpleasant, unwilling and often really confused. They almost lost our passports. And expesive WiFi for only one hour isn't a positive neither.
If You really want to stay in Pompeii overnight, try other camp.

We stayed here one night based on the reviews and yes it is in a sensational location for access to to the Pompeii ruins.
It is a very tired and run down site and the train goes right past the rear of the site regularly from 5 am through until 11 pm.the shower block is tired and the washing machines have seen better days.
Very average staff, who did not seemed to be too motivated to make our stay a good one.
There are other sites in the area you may want to try.
It was also a good place to stay for its proximity to MT Vesuvius.

Room Tip: The cabins are right next to the train track and only separated by a concrete wall

A 'campsite' with cabins and small caravans to rent opposite Pompeii scavi (the ruins of world fame). small grassy pitches with electricity and clean functional showers, toilets and sinks. There is a washing machine and dryer for a nominal sum too. We stayed in our VW camper for three nights spending a day in the ruins and a trip to the top of Vesuvius (ticket office opposite the campsite). The staff (Archangelo in particular); were the most helpful and kind people we had the pleasure to meet in just over three weeks touring Europe. The site could'nt be better placed for seeing Pompeii. Should we return to Italy we will certainly stay there again.

My partner and I stayed in a small air conditioned bungalow (Casette) for 2 nights while we were visiting Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii Ruins and Herculaneum Ruins.

The bungalow could more appropriately be described as a hut, only large enough to accommodate a double bed and small table, with a small en-suite shower, toilet and sink.

Our bungalow was situated directly next to the train track. I'm quite a heavy sleeper so this didn't disturb me too much, however my partner didn't get as good a sleep because of it (if booking here it might be an idea to ask for accommodation further away from the train track).

The air conditioning was also stuck on a very cold setting so it was either too cold or too hot in the bungalow and we had to take it in turns during the night to turn it off/on when the extremes in temperature became intolerable (I think we were just unlucky with this).

On a positive note tho, all the staff were very friendly and helpful (a family run campsite) and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. The onsite pizzeria was very reasonably priced and offered very good pizzas.

The location was also very good. We were just over the road from the entrance to Pompeii ruins, the train station (which we used to visit Herculaneum Ruins as we were told it is all but impossible to find car parking nearby), and a few other nearby pizzerias/restaurants (outside the entrance to the ruins). There was a large supermarket only 200m down the road, and it was only a relatively short drive away from Mount Vesuvius.

Overall if you are on a budget, then this is good value for money. We would consider staying here again (however would make sure we asked for somewhere further away from the train track!)

Room Tip: Ask for a room that isn't next to the train track.
