“Central Location, Clean Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 weeks ago

My recent 1 night stay at this hotel was very pleasant.

Pro:
Central location, 3 to 5 min walking distance from piazza garibaldi bus stop, railway station and metro.
Spacious and very clean room.
Great choices for breakfast even for vegetarian.

Cons:
Relatively poor Wifi connection in the room, though I was able to live by.

This hotel was clean enough. The reception staff was pretty unhelpful when we were trying to find the place in the middle of the night. Didn't realize how sketchy Napels could be at night so make sure to arrive in the day.

We picked this hotel because of it's close proximity to the rail station. The rooms are really small but comfy. The staff was helpful and breakfast good. Their internet is strange, if you have several devices ie phone, iPad etc, you will need a different password for each, at least this is what we found.

Friendly staff, prepaid and checked in within 5 seconds. Room 422 overlooking a busy street and an even more busy square but nevertheless a quiet room. The rooms are small but clean with a good bed. Very fair price including breakfast. Naples is a multi cultural city and this is very visible in the area around the hotel. I didn't experience any problems.

This hotel was fairly cheap, had wifi, breakfast buffet and was close to the rail which is why we chose it, but it only ticked a few boxes.
+'s
Most of the staff were friendly, with the exception of 1 grumpy man who seemingly works 24 hour shifts, but when we asked for information he was actually very helpful.
There are some nice places to eat nearby but not many.
The hotel and our room were nice and clean.
Lots of stalls and shops near the hotel.
Close to rail and bus services.
Less than 10 minutes walk to the habour.
Pretty cheap.
The wifi was pretty good, although you did have to go to the front desk to get a ticket which normally only lasts 3 days, although you can get more whenever you wish.

-'s

Located next to an apartment block and the neighbours were noisy early in the morning and sometimes late at night.
Also located in the worst area of naples.
Alot of rough looking people loitering around the hotel in the evening and late into the night, but despite the appearances we never had even 1 problem with anyone in the neighbourhood, we still had to keep our eyes open though.
The breakfast buffet was VERY average, with very little choice of hot foods and it was the exact same choices every morning with no change or variation.
Our room door didn't open or shut properly.
Our shower door was broken, and the shower itself was very small.
There was limited space for people for breakfast this resulted in people sharing with strangers and even having to QUEUE for a table just to eat, I have never encountered this before at a hotel and was very unimpressed.

So overall for the price and the fact it was close to some useful things for a tourist it was good, but just so many little annoying things wrong with it. You could do worse but you could also do better if you are willing to pay.

Sidenote: the people of naples are quite rude and ignorant in general, they don't like to queue and will literally walk through you if you are in their way.

We chose to stay at this hotel as it was ideally located near the sights we wanted to visit (Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius and Herculaneum).

Hotel
Most of the hotel staff were friendly, with the exception of about two or three. All staff however were very helpful. Breakfast was very basic (usual cereals, yoghurts, bread, ham, cheese and pastries). There wasn't a wide selection of hot foods - and all food choices were exactly the same each morning, which got boring and as the dining room was small - some people had to wait for a table to become available (busy times 8-8.30am). The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom was adequate (little box shower, too small for my liking). The streets were quite noisy, but this could not be heard in the room. Some of the hallways smelt of cigarette smoke, but again, it could not be detected within the room. The room (on the 1st floor) had a balcony, but I did not go out onto it as it was opposite a betting shop that always had a crowd of men standing outside of it. And to be honest, it is not an area that you would want to keep your balcony doors open on.

Area
The area definitely had an atmosphere - felt a little rough. A lot of homeless/unemployed people (mostly men) just hanging about everywhere. We had no bad experiences (except one, when we were ripped off by a cab driver when we first arrived). I would say we felt quite comfortable and safe being out after dark, however I would advise people to keep their belongings securely on them and to not wear flashy jewellery/watches etc. Food is tasty and cheap, €5 for a good sized pizza.

Transportation (Naples Central Train Station, Stazione Centrale)
The main train station is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. One of the train lines is called Circumvesuviana, this will take you to all the sights - Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius, Herculaneum and Sorrento. Ticket prices are quite cheap - Naples to Pompeii (single journey) is €4.10. Naples to Sorrento is around €8. Be aware of being short changed or ridiculously overcharged - this happened to other people who were visiting.

There is also a bus that can take you directly to/from the airport that costs €3. This is situated just outside the airport and can also be found 5 minutes from the hotel outside the train station. Do not take the taxi's.

I would not return to this hotel. On the upside it is close to the Naples rail terminal. That was where it ended. We found the man at the reception unfriendly & unhelpful. The hallways & stairwell smelt of old & new cigarette smoke but thankfully the rooms were clean. The neighbourhood was dirty & frankly a little scarey. Breakfast was basic, but nice.
