““Grand in the good old days””
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Conveniently located across Naples “Stazione Centrale", but a 35’ walk to the historical center through a not so “scenic” neighborhood.
Rooms and bathrooms are what you usually find in old renovated hotels, although the common areas (Library and conference room) are beautifully kept with old desks, leather sofas, armchairs, and paintings.
Good breakfast buffet in the breakfast room, in the basement, with several options and guests can prepare their own “espresso”.
Wi-fi works fine.

Dear guest,

first of all thank you for sending us your review.

We are happy that you appreciated our very rich and various breakfast and most of all our common areas reflecting the old charm of the hotel as Grand Hotel Europa is one of the historical hotels of Naples.

As mentioned in your post, our hotel is very close to the train station and to the main bus stops: the best point to start a visit of Naples and its surroundings easily.

We invite you to come back to the Grand Hotel Europa and we suggest you to book one of our junior suites dedicated to “bassi napoletani”, where you can breath the typical Neapolitan atmosphere also during the night.

Warmest regards from our entire staff!

The hotel is very close to the napoli central station, the room was clean and decent. The room had a small balcony opening towards the road ,it was neat too. The breakfast was good enough. The hotel staff is very good and courteous. As the hotel is close to the station you will find a few homeless people around, though they never bothered us I would recommend to use road rather than the footpath at night. A lot of websites said about petty theft and pick pockets however we never faced any such thing. It is however difficult to locate circumvesuviana i.e for the trains heading for Pompeii and sorrento.... but after enquiring at the tourist information desk we managed to get there. If you intend to visit Pompeii and Amalfi I would strongly recommend you to make a stay at Sorrento, it is a far better town than Naples....and dont miss Amalfi at all.... it is one of the finest place to see in Italy.....truly romantic and picturesque..... There are limited buses from Sorrento to Amalfi on sundays and holidays, make sure to check the timetable online before you plan your trip else u will waste your day. If I happen to come again to Italy I would only stay at Amalfi.....I must say the Italians have saved the best for them....Italy rocks.....!

A nice little hotel, literally round the corner from Central Station and the metro, and only five minutes from the bus depot.
Clean and pleasant room with all the facilities you would expect. It might not be the Ritz - but then again, you're not paying Ritz prices! More than adequate and I would happily stay there again.

The breakfast was perfectly acceptable and exactly what I would have expected - bread, cheese, cold meat, yogurt, fruit in plentiful supply.

The neighbourhood is run down and dirty, but we never felt threatened or uncomfortable at any time.

There is a supermarket just around the corner, for anything you might have forgotten.

We are very happy that you spent a pleasant stay at Grand Hotel Europa and that you appreciated all characteristics of our hospitality: our spacious rooms, our rich and various breakfast and most of all our location. It is in fact the best point to start a visit of Naples and its surrounding region due to its adjacency to central station, underground stops and bus stops.

We hope to see you back at our hotel as soon as possible and in the meanwhile we remain with our best personal regards!

This hotel is located minutes from the train station, which means there are a lot of homeless people about at night and it can feel a little unsafe. By the same token, being minutes from the train station makes it ideally located! We didn't have an issue with the surrounding area and walked on edge of the road rather than the footpath most of the time. The hotel had very friendly staff and a nice breakfast included. The room was large and had all the facilities we needed. Wifi was a pain though, having to go get a new password printed when our net timed out. Other than that we had no complaints!

Dear guest,

thank you for posting your review on Tripadvisor!

We are really glad that you spent a nice stay at the Grand Hotel Europa, appreciating our friendly staff and most of all our rich and various breakfast.

Honestly said our location could seem a little scary at a first sight but there isn't any reason to feel unsafe:this would be the same in any other station area of any other big city of the world.
Furthernore, as you mentioned in your post, our location is simply perfect to visit easily Naples and its surroundings.

We really do hope that you will choose our hotel again next time you will be in Naples!

Stayed here for 1 night in July on the way from Rome; in order to visit Pompeii and Sorrento then fly to Paris. The hotel is decorated in a quirky manner; with paintings on the walls, including in our room, that were a nice touch.

Nice room with aircon. Beds and bathroom were comfortable. A pretty decent breakfast was included too. The hotel is not modern but not too dated either. It's a comfortable place for a few nights when you want to be close to the train station.

Naples is an interesting city. We had some truly amazing pizza and really good cheap food generally. But the filth and traffic around the train station are hard to believe. So very different from Sorrento (which I would love to go back to visit again!).

Room Tip: Ask for a room off the main street.
