“Wonderful, welcoming service in charming area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We had a great stay for one night at Hotel Toledo. We booked the reservation last minute, but the staff at the hotel made sure we had a room available immediately upon arrival to drop our bags and change clothes. The room was simple but all we needed as we were outside most of the time exploring the lively area and eating the fantastic food of Napoli. The staff went out of their way to provide gluten-free pastries for breakfast (one of our party is celiac) as well as give us extensive directions and recommendations for our stay. Thanks!

This hotel is located pretty near the important and interesting via Toledo, what makes a fine location. However, the hotel street itself, via Montecalvario, is quite scary, making it necessary to take care at night.
The rooms are simple and small, but are also very clean.
Considering the price range, it is a good option, though not excellent.

The pictures of the rooms on the web-site are better than the actual rooms.
The elevator is TINY. We were 2 people with 2 good sized suitcases. We were told (sort of- the woman at the front desk spoke NO English) via hand motions to go up separately to the 2nd floor
(3rd floor as ground floor is "0"). We were by the breakfast room which made it very noisy in the mornings as there is NO soundproofing in this hotel.
Breakfast is so-so, mostly breads and juice with a tray of meats and some processed (really? in Italy?) cheese and yogurt (more like milk) available in a fridge. Don't expect fruit :(
The fitness facility? It is an old exercise bike pushed into a corner on the terrace (If you can stand the heat and move the tables and ping pong table leaning on it it might work).
The wifi is spotty at best, but there is a computer available (in a room that looks like a bar, with some old chairs and books but didn't seem to serve any purpose)
The Gentleman that worked the desk in the morning spoke English and was quite helpful with directions and places to eat.

Room Tip: I don't know which rooms are good, but the ones near the breakfast area are NOT

At your first glance of the front door and entrance you think to yourself.OMG what have I done. However, after the experience of finally getting in, using the unique elevator and finding the staff, all that you have just experienced are now just a fleeting memory after meeting the staff, seeing your room, the dining room and looking down over the entire historic district from your balcony. You are right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the busiest street where all the action is going on. No matter what your problem with the room was, one word to the staff and it was taken care of immediately. They were super, overly obliging and extremely nice. That goes for everyone from the owner to the maids. The hotel was once home to a Princess and you can tell by the beauty of the ceilings as you walk into the dining room, which almost takes your breath away by the sheer look of luxury.Even though this hotel is fairly priced the food we were served beat any 5 star restaurant I've ever been to anywhere ever.I loved the convenience of it, the look of it, the people and the Cafe across the street where we would always end up either for a cup of cappuccino or a really nice gelato. If I ever return to Naples I will stay there...

Room Tip: Try to get a balcony room. You will not regret it.

I turned up without a reservation and luckily, they had a room for me. I had to change after a couple of days but a small inconvenience for not booking in advance. I'll take nothing but great memories from this hotel, the area, the atmosphere - it all just suited me perfectly. If you're traveling alone, you won't feel alone once you book in to the Toledo. I'd return here for sure, no hesitation.

Nice personnel who helped and gave advice were needed. Clean and simple rooms. Perfect location to visit the centro storico, for shopping and to stroll along the waterfront, all within walking distance. Would definitely come back again next time I am in Naples. Around the corner there is also the trattoria A Pignata, which is definitely a must: real Italian food, good food for a fair price.

Upon arrival by metro, we stopped at the wrong metro station first, then realized there is one only a few blocks away. Once in the area, we were nervous at first then came to appreciate the culture of it. The room fit our family of four comfortably. The a/c kept the room very cool, almost cold at night even. The breakfast was a usual European breakfast of meat, cheese, bread, hard-boiled eggs, some fruit, juices, coffee and water. It was nice to have it on the rooftop terrace. The location was nice near a metro stop. We found many, many restaurants nearby. There is an amazing pizzeria nearby that let me come into the kitchen to take some pictures even. The front desk clerk in the morning was able to give great directions for sight-seeing and transportation. It was a nice experience.
