“Fine for an overnight stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2014

We stayed in this hotel at the end of our holiday, with the room needed overnight as we were flying out of Naples early the next morning. The decor is a little tired and the lift a bit rickety, but the room was spacious, tidy, clean and the service we received was good. As we were leaving the hotel at 6am, but breakfast had been included in our booking, the hotel staff offered to make up a packed lunch for us which was a really nice touch. While we arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning, so we didn't really spend much time in Naples and only had a bit of dinner in a (decently priced, friendly) restaurant down the road the reception staff recommended; one major thing we noticed was that the main road outside the hotel is busy, rowdy and very noisy; there were still scooter horns tooting at 4.30am when our alarm went off!

VERY noisy, but that's Naples all over. All looking a bit tired. Large room, sparse furniture, no coat hangers in the wardrobe, questionable plumbing in the bathroom. Breakfast was good but no proper coffee (just one of those horrid Nescafe machines) and very watery "juice". I was able to get an iron but no ironing board. Interesting. Not sure why this hotel merits the four stars that adorn the wall outside.

Didnt know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by this super, classicly stylish hotel.
The staff were so friendly and couldnt have been more helpful and made us more welcome.
With the great botanical garden opposite and a fantastic roof garden, with a view of versuvius in the distance, any gardener would be delighted!!
It is not really a tourist area as such but if you want a taste of real Naples: its bustling and full of life and energy.
Yes, it is noisy and the traffic crazy BUT well worth a visit!!
The hotel is only a 20 minute walk to the main railway station with links to Pompei, Versuvius and beyond. Good bus and metro service with reasonable fares.
Great continental breakfast and lots of excellent restaurants close by.
Eat where the locals eat!!

Room Tip: Room 406 !!! :)

In short, we were very pleased with this hotel. Yes it is on a main thoroughfare, but that adds to the ambience, there are good restaraunts nearby, and it has double glazed windows as well as a second light/soundproof shutter that ensures an undisturbed sleep.

As for the reception staff, they were great. English isn't as prevalent in Naples as it is in Rome yet we heatd the staff conversing fluently in English and French.

The hotel is "handy" to the main train station as well as the city centre. By "handy" I mean approx 1km, through a series of side streets, not the 500m quoted in some material. That said we were back and forth to the train station to do day trips to Pompeii and Amalfi and the train station is quite accessible if you don't mind a 20 min walk or a short taxi ride.

Naples has a reputation for petty crime, but we felt quite safe taking sensible precautions.

The room was large and comfortable, and the breakfast ample. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

PS if you don't like Naples, don't come here, but don't come here and then blame the hotel. We found the locals friendly and helpful, and the food supberb!

The hotel's website gave the illusion that the hotel was quiet and pretty by a botanical garden. It is not. It is in the middle of town on a busy street. It is well worn. The rooms were large. The air conditioning worked fair. The staff assisted us, but certainly were not all that friendly. We did feel secure in the room which is important in Naples. There was a good restaurant about 1/2 block uphill from the hotel.
Naples is unsettling. Very busy, very dirty, and the drivers think that street lanes and street signs are suggestions. There is rumors of lots of petty crime, but we had no contact with this experience. We have no interest in returning there.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

We spent ten days in Italy in four different towns. This was our first experience in this country so our review is based solely on this trip.

We had some hesitations visiting Naples due to rumors of safety issues. Since this was the last town we visited in the country and were--arguably--more attuned to the culture, we truly enjoyed our visit to both this hotel and the town.

This hotel was comparably well-priced and clean. The breakfast was very good and the staff "serving" it were extremely nice.

We ended up in the handicap room which was spacious, but had some issues with water draining. My husband is a light sleeper so we were VERY happy to see multiple sound barriers separating the noises from the road from those in our room. The patio--though small--was also a nice touch.

Overall, would highly recommend this hotel and would advise spending about two days in Naples...once you have spent some time elsewhere in the country to become more immersed.

Visited Naples in Late May 2014 for 4 nights to take in Pompei, Herculaneum and Vesuvius. The hotel is average and as found in other reviews not 4 star. Hotel looks a little tired but the rooms are spacious, clean and tidy. Real cross section of staff, breakfast guy was friendly, old reception guy was a double for the Italian Basil Fawlty.

Close to the metro so access to all the sites is easy. If you are doing the tourist bit make sure you get an Artecard - http://www.campaniartecard.it/artecard_Regione.cfm You will save on the travel if nothing else.

Tourists sites are great and entry to all is inexpensive, beware the Vesuvius £10 trip, it will actually cost you ten more to get to the summit of the volcano.

As for Naples it is a dirty, smelly, unfriendly and dangerous city (this is coming from someone who lived 8 years in Africa). Scooters drive on the pavement, through red lights and basically do what they like. Every car is a dodgem with a permanently sounding horn. Everywhere (and I mean everywhere) is covered with graffiti.

My advice, if you want to to the historical sites stay in Sorrento, you can access everything just as easily from there. Avoid Naples like the plague, and just drop in for a day trip to the excellent Archaeological Museum.

If you visit Capri take lots of cash, you will need it.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the rear of the hotel, our room was triple glazed but the traffic noise was st...
