We booked a four night stay here in July 2004 through Expedia. The Jolly Hotel is the biggest hotel in Naples, but whilst its gleaming lobby might exudes the promised four-star style, our 16th floor room felt like a Tenby Travel Inn: small with chipped furniture and (gulp) carpeted walls.
However, returning today, we noticed that another reviewer here on Trip Advisor complained - and got upgraded to a bigger, more modern room on the 24th floor. What can we say apart from mental note made!
Despite our room complaints (oh, and the fact that the bar and room service stopped at midnight - unforgivable folks) we would recommend the Jolly Hotel. It's central, and our bathroom, air conditioning, and maid service were faultless - as was the breakfast served from 7.30am until 10am.
The Jolly Hotel isn't a four-star hotel like you'd expect in the UK, but from what we saw of Naples this is to be expected: during our trip we spotted several other hotels that we'd considered on Expedia and found them to be more like dumpy digs than multi-starred hotels.
Stay at the Jolly - but trundle your trolley straight back to reception at the first sign of corduroy walls!
