“Good Business Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

Hotel is situated in the centre of Naples near to the port, which is handy if you wish to go to Sorrento etc, but the Hotel is more suited to the business traveller. It meets the expectation of Marriot Standards if you have a superior room. Usual amenities, Coffee Maker, Iron, Hairdryer and a comfortable bed with good linens. I have also stayed in the standard room and would not recommend it. Food menu is limited and is acceptable although not wonderful. Check out in the morning was lengthy due to a large queue.

Room Tip: go for a superior room as a minimum.

Arrived mid evening and was quickly booked in. Went straight to room as we wanted to unpack and then go out for a bite to eat. Got to room and found it hadn't even been made up as bed was unmade and towels on bathroom floor! Another trip back down to reception and told receptionist about room and said maybe we hadn't answered door when maid came to do room!! Explained we had only just arrived and only booked in about 10 minutes previously! A very apologetic receptionist gave us a better room, in his words but turned out to be the same type of room but on the floor above! The hotel is situated about a 2 minute walk from Via Toledo were all the main shops are and about 5 minute walk from Toledo metro which is handy for using to go to Pompeii via the Circumvesuviana.

The room was quite large with a queen size bed, 40" TV wardrobe with plenty of drawers for putting things. There was also an ironing board and iron for one to use and there was also a stocked fridge, which we didn't use as we couldn't find a price list and didn't want to be caught out by the high prices! The only thing that was annoying was that we had taken continental type electric adaptors with us, only to find they had the old type plugs in the room so had to go out and find one in the shops the next day! The plug on the iron was the standard continental plug which didn't fit into the plugs without the adaptor which we had bought!!! The bathroom had a sunken type bath with a hand shower and also a main shower over the bath and a choice of toiletries to use as well. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom which was handy but the only place you could use any other appliance with a mirror was here and not very practical if someone else was using the bathroom as well! Large mirrors in the bedroom but no plug accessible near by to use!

Our booking at the hotel included breakfast which was situated on the terrace of the 11th floor with stunning views of Vesuvius and the bay of Naples. The choice of food for breakfast ranged from cereals to fresh fruit to cold meats and a choice of breads. There was also yoghurts to eat along with cooked bacon and eggs, pastries and fruit juices. Hot drinks were available such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cappuccino, in fact they would bring you anything you asked for!

We had mid afternoon coffee in the lounge a few times we were there and they always brought a little cake or biscuit with it which was a nice touch. Cappuccino was 2 euros a cup which wasn't bad for a hotel but a beer was rather over the top which my husband bought. We added these to our room bill and be warned that when leaving you have to pay 5 euros a night tax.

A good stay overall and definitely a place to recommend to others who want something quite central in Naples.

The location of this hotel is located about 10 minutes from the marina and 2 blocks off the busy Toledo street where all the locals go to hang out. The hotel has a great breakfast that is included for Platinum members on the roof top. You have a great view of the marina and Mt. Vesuvius. The rooms are the normal rooms that you would expect in Europe. There is not a pool but there is a Jacuzzi with a sun deck. We used this hotel for a week to explore Naples, Pompei, Capri, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. The Metro stop was 2 blocks from the hotel and very easy to navigate to the main train station and also a sort walk to the marina.

Only stayed for one night, but right from the first walking in the door was restful. The Reception Staff were really kind, and the man who minded our bags, then took them to our room was excellent. Our room was big, well appointed and everything, including the bathroom was spotless.
We snuggled into a warm and cosy bed for a good nights sleep. In the morning we ordered Room Service for breakfast and it was delicious. Even the little girl who brought it up to the room was delightful. We left feeling refreshed and ready for our flights to Denmark.
The only downside as far as we were concerned was the polystyrene cups if we wanted to have a coffee. Why on earth would such an upmarket place even consider not having proper crockery?

Room Tip: We had an executive room and it was perfect. You get a small dressing room as well which is handy fo...

The hotel atmosphere is very nice, quiet and elegant with a very welcome feel the minute you walk into the lobby. We had an Executive room which was spacious for a European room but Americans used to US Renaissance locations might feel a bit crowded. The room was clean with all the amenities including hair dryer, iron, safe, and coffee maker but it did not have the view of the bay as advertised on the web site. The location is great, a short walk to the port for a 50 minute ride to Capri or a day trip to the Amalficoast and centrally located in downtown Naples for easy walking to shops, restaurants, and attractions. The rooftop restaurant is a great place to enjoy the views with breakfast but overall the food at both restaurants is average and not what one could call destination dining. Overall it is a good hotel with the perfect location; I would come back and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in he area.

Good price and good standard to start the exploration of Napoli, in the center, near to the main shopping artery.
Note, no bar at the top of the hotel only reserved for breakfast and event (Marriage or else I guess) but great views!
Parking underground at the time of vist priced at €22.
recommend.

Older hotel, in the heart of the city. OK for business BUT "old world charm" was old & worn. Not a vacation property. A Friendly staff was the only real plus. Parking is difficult and not easily accessible. Renting a car requires a cab ride across town.

RenaissanceNaples, General Manager at Renaissance Naples Hotel Mediterraneo, responded to this review, June 5, 2014
Dear CAB144,

Thank you so much for your candid feedback, it is an important opportunity to improve our services and increase our guests' satisfaction.

We regret you did not enjoy our property which, since the last massive refurbishment in 2005 that recreated the elegant and comfortable atmosphere of a private residence, was constantly updated with light and continuous restyling and maintenance. Of course, times are always running forward and for that reason we are planning, in the next future, to make some re-decoration in our rooms and some restructuring of the several common areas, as our roof top with beautiful views over the Bay of Naples.

Our garage, indoor and monitored, accessible through a ramp next the hotel entrance, offers an important plus to our customers as opposed to the street parking where our guests cars would be much more exposed. For any difficulty in entering, our garage staff is always available to assist our guests.

Dear CAB 144, thank you so much as well for appreciating our staff to whose training and selection we constantly dedicate our time and efforts.

I hope you will have the chance to return in our city, thanking you again for choosing Renaissance Naples
