“The Best Hotel in Naples!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

We arrived from Calabria via train and took a taxi to the hotel. Cost was approx. EUR 20.
Upon arrival there was a doorman to greet us and depsite the 90+ degree weather, he was sharply dressed in a proper uniform. Our check-in was pleasant and after being escorted to our room, the bags arrived literally within two minutes. We had a room facing the Bay of Naples and the views are just stunning! This is a true Grand European Hotel that continues to hold on to it's past (perfectly!) while providing guests with modern touches. The staff is attentive to a guests every need. You should have a drink in the bar and dinner in the stunning rooftop restaurant. Breakfast is served on the first or second floor with those special bay-water views and an impressive array of choices. A stop by the pool and a special massage will melt away any stress! When we left, we actually felt sad that our stay was not longer. We will be back!

Room Tip: Make sure you have a room facing the Bay of Naples and plan on dinner in the rooftop restaurant with...

I really don't understand the bad reviews this hotel gets, this is the second year we have stayed there,ok so it is a little out of Sorrento but the hotel have a bus that runs regular, the hotel is great the rooms are cleaned everyday the pool area is outstanding always plenty of sunbeds, the food what can I say absolutely AMAZING.
The staff are helpful and friendly from the cleaners, bar staff,to the restaurant staff nothing is to much trouble for them and to have waiter service on an all inclusive holiday makes it even mor special.
If you want McDonald's or KFC food then this beautiful hotel will not be for you.

Just one more thing the hotel has a view from the main balcony that will take your breath away.

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms are beautiful

Perfect Service, very friendly staff, great location, at the Lungomare.
Quite place, as the Lungomare is a pedestrian zone.
Breakfast amazing !
A lot of cheap restaurants around the hotel - in the Lungomare

Great location, very nice rooms with turndown service. Everything else is extra. Internet is 30 euros a day, breakfast is good, but to have anything beyond the very basic it will cost 5-7 euros per item. The gym costs extra as does the sauna.
I would stay here again, but I'd have to get a great base price to deal with all the add ons.

We spent 3 nights there while visiting Napoli and the Amalfi Coast.
We loved it although the staff, without being on you all the time, could be little bit more happy to help or to offer help. We've done a couple of nice hotels and usually in these kind of places the staff is more proactive I'd say.
Having said that the location is great, bedrooms are super nice (big & clean) and all amenities are really over the top. Our bedroom was seaview and it's really worth it although I don't understand why there's no chairs or table on the balcony, it's kind of a shame that you cannot sit and enjoy a drink or a breakfast there.
On the minus side we'd had that you've got to pay to use the gym...
We had dinner on top floor and we'd advise people to go, it's a little bit pricey but definitely worth it.
Overall we loved the place, we'd recommend it and we'd come back but we believe some stuff need to be changed or adjusted in a place that's got 5 star.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money to get a sea view, really worth it

Having arrived from the airport via the back streets, we thought we had arrived in a third-world city. However were pleasantly surprised upon reaching the Bay of Naples, where the hotel is perfectly situated opposite the historic Castel Dell’Ovo. In the evening one sees many people walking, cycling along the traffic-free promenade, and proceeding to dine at one of the many delicious inviting restaurants surrounding the Marina at the front of the Castel Dell’Ovo.

The hotel is lovely and the staff and service A+. Special mention for Rita at the front desk and Felipe in the breakfast room. The restaurant on the top floor is amazing with astonishing views from the north to the south of the Bay. A must-visit for anyone coming to Naples.

The breakfast room is also very stylish. Choice of breakfast is great if you are on a must- gain-kilos holiday as there are a big choice of pastries, but not so great for someone wanting to avoid such things. Was surprised to discover if one wants porridge, cost is an extra Euros 5 (in addition to having paid for breakfast with the room). For fried or scrambled eggs cost is an extra Euros 6. For a hotel of this class and price, this is unheard of. These items are freely available in any of the hotels we have ever stayed in.

They also wanted to charge for use of sauna and spa????

Another major con is the cost of internet which is crazy price. Again for a hotel of this calibre, this should be free of charge. Note the restaurant down the road to the right offers free wi-fi. Have decided that we will no longer stay in hotels which charge for internet.

Conversely the rooms, although not too stylish, had everything and the hotel is very generous with toiletries, towels and the like. Bed and pillows very comfy. Great attention to detail. Also blockout blinds very helpful for sleeping.

Found the concierge not too helpful giving us only one brochure when asking for tour ideas.
Otherwise all good, and we were happy to discover that the rest of Naples dissipated our first impressions of it being third-world.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room front facing

Upon arrival it soon became apparent that 'disability access' was going to be somewhat problematic. For anyone unable to get out of their wheelchair this could be challenging.Of course one wouldn't want the 'Grand' and 'Historic' features altered for the sake of an access ramp. Many famous folk have stayed here and no doubt enjoyed the 'antiquities' as well as the 'pomp'.I have to say though for a 5-Star Hotel there were a couple of niggles which were irritating, first of all there was a well stocked 'mini-bar but no Tea/Coffee facilities, which had to be ordered via Room Service at quite a cost. Secondly, although we put a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door and illuminted the 'Do Not Disturb' Light, we still received calls from Housekeeping and knocks on the door! The first room wasn't brilliant, especially as we had booked a 'superior room' with a view...I don't class leaning out of a 7th storey window and looking sideways a view, so I ended up paying a 'premium' to move to a 'Room with a view'. The Room we then had was lovely and had a view straight at the Harbour. The food we had at the Hotel was enjoyable. All in all it was alright.

Room Tip: The Harbour View Rooms with a balcony are in my view the best.
