“Perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

We are a family of 4, and despite get his not being an overtly family hotel it worked very well. We used it for 3 nights for a visit to Naples. Great position, close to the castle and the palace, short walk to metro.

The place itself is like Naples and not like Naples, very friendly staff, everyone from front desk to bar to breakfast were very helpful and attentive, and not like Naples in that they were very well organised!

We ate at the sushi restaurant, not the cheapest experience, probably due top my eldest (11) developing taste for the non alcoholic cocktails, but the food was excellent.

The rooms were small but laid out very well.

2 slight niggles, the pool on the roof was a large hot tub, and at that kind if temperature, would have we been better as a unheated pool during august (although that's just my opinion) and we got rooms next door but no interconnecting rooms.

All in all I thought it was great. And would stay there again

Ps we did go to Pompeii, and intended to take the train, but Mario the taxi driver deserves an honourable mention if only that he persuaded us to pay him 90 euros to do a 2 hr return trip. It took a while to navigate the language and we were concerned that 2 hrs in Pompeii would not be enough he said it would. And he was right (it was roasting) . And getting picked up in an air conditioned taxi rather than slepping back by train was great! A completely different experience to what I expected from a Neapolitan taxi driver!

The Romeo is a jewel in the crown of Naples - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any of my friends. The rooms are compact but you have everything you need. The service is excellent and very friendly.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014 via mobile

I stayed at Romeo Hotel for 5 nights in July 2014 with my boyfriend, and couldn't recommend it more highly. I did not feel the area was dangerous and was quite happy to pop out at night on my own to pick up drinks etc. Perhaps this is helped by the fact that I am a Londoner and used to being a lone female out after dark. (Naples as a whole is quite dirty and covered in graffiti, not just the area where the hotel is! This didn't impact at all on what a great time we had.)

We asked staff on several occasions for help/advice on sightseeing and places to eat, and found them to be very helpful indeed. They also arranged for us to have a late check out when my boyfriend hurt his back.

We didn't try any of the restaurants but the breakfast was excellent, as was the poolside drinks service. The drinks are very expensive but no more than you would expect at a 5* hotel anywhere else in the world.

Having read earlier reviews we opted for an upgrade to a deluxe sea view room and it was definitely worth it; waking up to a panoramic view of the port and Mount Vesuvius never lost it's magic! I would highly advise getting a room as high up as possible, as there would be little/no view on the lower floors. The room was comfortable, with a/c, kept scrupulously clean and the towels were changed twice a day.

The only thing that could have been improved was the fact that the pool and bar next to it closed at 8pm. It was a shame as it would have been a beautiful place to have a drink at sunset.

Thank you to everyone at Romeo Hotel for making our first trip to Naples so great!

The hotel Romeo advertises free WIFI throughout the hotel.
They forget to say that the connection is very poor throughout the hotel. It is low-speed. You can only view and reply to your emails. For the rest you have to be very patient. When you make a business trip you would expect from a 5 star hotel that is at the cutting edge of technology to offer you a decent Internet connection to that name. I was even willing to pay extra to have an acceptable connection. Unfortunately the hotel does not offer this option.
For the rest nothing to say.

Great 5 stars hotel. All up to par and as you would expect from a 5 stars hotel.
BUT:
1. Location is terrible. Bad neighborhood, dirty, very very noisy.
2. Drinks are overly over priced!!! 9 euros for 1 coca cola!!!
3. Staff not knowledgable at all!!!

Dear Lorenafrommiami,

Greetings from Naples! Thank you very much for sharing your experience at the Romeo Hotel on tripadvisor. We are pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. The Romeo hotel is situated close to the historic centre and the ferry terminal and therefore offers its customers an ideal position to visit the city and the main attractions of the region. Naples is known for being a noisy, joyful and quite chaotic city: the position of the Romeo Hotel reflects Naples essence!
The Coca Cola served in our restaurants and bars costs 6 euros not only because of the hotel scale but also because of the atmosphere and the service.
Your remarks help us improve our quality everyday, we will therefore double check with our staff in order to guarantee our future guests the best service quality. We hope to see you soon back in Naples at the Romeo Hotel.

Best regards.

Romeo hotel is truly great in many ways, just as would be expected from a 5-star hotel. The lobby looks really fresh and nice and so does the room, the gym / spa and the restaurant and breakfast area. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we were always treated well. Definitely a hotel I would
come back to and one that I would recommend!

There are a couple of less great things..

1. The location and view is not good. Yes, I'm aware that the hotel is located close to transportation stations of various kinds which is nice but it doesn't add up for the fact that it is positioned in a dirty (dangerous?) industry harbor neighborhood with shipping containers, filth and weird people. Not a place you would like to be in during dark hours.

2. The gym closes at 9 pm. That is way too early. Also, almost every evening from 7.30 pm or so there seems to be some staff and locals doing "training" and talking loudly, laughing and taking up room from the not so big gym. Annoying.

3. The prices for drinks and food. Ridiculously expensive. 10€ for two plain cups of coffee of poor quality, one was not even warm.

4. Staff competence about activities to do or landmarks to see was poor. We were much better off on our own.

Anyway, we were quite happy with the hotel and as stated earlier, we would come back if we ever go to Naples again.

1 day and night in Naples before our flight home. Very convenient for the port and airport bus stop only 5 mins. Although on busy road the hotel was an oasis of calm and quiet We liked our deluxe room which was cool and clean with many mod cons incl nespresso machine. Wireless great Admittedly it isn't on the main harbour road where the Excelsior and other first class hotels are ( around 10 -15mins walk ) which is probably the place to go for dinner in the evening but daytime you are within walking distance of the main sites incl via Toledo for shopping. We tried the roof top heated hot tubs which were lovely- however the only downside was we asked for a beer - there was a lack of staff around to ask hence the delay and it was around 1900( reception had advised us it closes at 2000) and we were made to feel as if we were being a nuisance - maybe they were getting ready for dinner service in the top floor restaurant ? breakfast and reception staff were good. It would, have been a nice touch though to be offered a map on check in and shown where the main city sites were. Bonus though was our room was ready early as arrived at 1230. We would stay here again due to the convenience at start or end of hols from the islands but perhaps overall the lacks a bit of warmth
