“Old and tired”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

Excellent location, but nothing else to say. Very crowded, extremelly expensive for what it is. And the quality of drinks so so. Service very average. There are so many better places in Napoli.

“A tired cliche'”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Naples has numerous wonderful places to enjoy gelato and pastries. Don't waste your time visiting this place. They don't care about you and they certainly and very clearly don't care about what they are serving. They have a wonderful opportunity to share their Italian heritage with people from across the globe and instead they serve you a sfogliatelle when you ordered a baba and when you call them out on it they simply don't care and they still charge you. It's sad to think of how many of their customers go home not only insulted but uneducated about what they just ate because they've been served just anything their server is lazy enough to throw on a plate. They are the epitome of what makes travelers weary and untrusting.

“Historic but pricey location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Worth visiting Caffe Gambrinus to soak up the atmosphere and imagine all the events that have taken place there.

Menu is a little pricey in comparison to other places near by - 6 Euro for a teabag and a cup of hot water is excessive.

The quality is pretty good. The frappe was excellent and the location perfect to watch bustinling Naples go by.

Waiter service outside is very good.

“Best would be to have a statement of your account with you. Some of them are very snobbish. But very good grannita”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

Well our tour guide recommeded us to see this place to have some great coffee and the Naples speciality Sfogliate (A sort of warm puff pastry deep fried filled with white cheese filling). If you are here the very first time they are not welcoming you. They let you made all mistakes you can make if you do not know how it works: you have to pay first but therefore you need to know what you need to order. So you walk back and forth and different bars for pastries, ice and coffee make it necessary to see the cashier multiple time. Especially if you do not know the difference between grannita and ice-cream and grannita is more expensive and you are coming back with your receipt that did not pay enough to get a scope of grannita. Endless discussion how stupid you are that you do not know the difference and have to see the cashier again to pay the balance. But even you have the effort: the coffee is good, the pastry is very nice and the best was the green grannita (Italian original slush). If you are willing to pay more you may also sit inside or outside. But as said you pay for this comfort extra.

“Historic Cafe in Naples”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

I went to this cafe because of its history. It is located on a busy corner close to streets with lots of shops. It is located nearby the Royal Palace is a nice place to take a break.
