“Charming hotel !!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

The hotel is located at the heard of old historic part of city at ancient Royal Palace. And this is right because you will fell yourself as a queen or king. We arrived very late from Amalfi Coast and been was surprised as the receptionist upgraded our room as 2 story loft with balcony for the same price as double room. We interested in a restaurants where the locals usually have a dinner. The reception staff gave us the names of restaurants and directions with map. The breakfast area is a huge royal salon with piano and grand mirrors. So if you planning to explore the old district, all main attraction and especially Church Guesa Nuova stay here. Safety and quiet, clean and hospitality.

The hotel, located on the second floor off a courtyard, on a quiet side street had us concerned at first. But as soon as we arrived, the welcome, the beautifully maintained space and great design put us at ease. The location is uber convenient. Their recommendations are spot on. Breakfast could not be lovelier. Note: the in room fridges are stocked and priced for "friendliness". Nice!

We stayed here for 4 nights in June, and my sole reason for booking was the pictures of the hotel...I even changed my flights so that I could stay at this hotel!
It is situated in the old town, with cobbled streets away from the busy main roads and is surrounded by numerous restaurants to choose from, although the staff will be more than happy to recommend somewhere if you want somewhere a bit special.
The bedrooms are spacious, and the dining room is somewhat of a masterpiece...I would definitely stay here again if I come to Naples again!

The reviews for this hotel led us to stay here, but I have to say, I think the reviews are highly inflated. The location itself was really not good. I recommend that unless you have a specific reason to be in this area, you should stay in the more tourist-friendly areas to the east and south-east of the port. This hotel is in a run-down area of Naples, and we were without running water for about half a day due to a problem which affected the entire area, which the staff seemed to regard as a situation that was not terribly unusual. As many have written on here, the entrance elevator and stairway are shabby and falling apart, with discarded beer bottles cluttering the stairway, presumably indicative of the type of thing that goes on in there during the night, when we were too scared to venture out. But I found that the hotel wasn't that much of a contrast to it. The staff was friendly, but often seemed too stressed and overwhelmed to be helpful to us. The bed was slightly less firm than the tile floor of the bathroom, and the pillows were the same thickness and softness as a Sunday newspaper (although they did give us a couple of much softer pillows upon request).

This charming hotel has made it to our list of top three hotels through our Italian sojourn this June. Tucked in the heart of the city's historic centre, it gets full points for its location.

Though the dilapidated conditions upon our entry to the street where it's located, made us a bit wary, which was further aggravated by the ancient lift that took us up to the reception. But as soon as we entered we were welcomed warmly by the staff, who immediately put our fears to rest by assuring us that what we'd witnessed on the street was all owed to ongoing construction. The interiors of the hotel were true to their 18th century roots, the ball-room converted to the dining area, being especially grand in its appearance. it was a treat to breakfast there!

The rooms were very comfortable, larger than our room in the hotel in Rome, and maintained the aforesaid charm. The wi-fi was excellent, and available all over the hotel, which is more than I can say for the rest of the hotels we stayed in.

A special mention to the staff at the reception who were extremely helpful with their suggestions- helped us in making the most of our one day stay in Naples, by covering the important sites and even suggesting the best places to eat at- the yummiest pizza parlor, the best place for 'Sfolgliatella' and a romantic place for dinner as it was a Saturday night!

This place is highly recommended!

Top class hotel in the centre of the historic district of Naples with great comfortable rooms and the most helpful staff you are likely to find in Italy. Great atmosphere, quiet, good breakfast and superb breakfast room.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms by the kitchen unless you are an early riser.

As other reviewers have pointed out, arriving at the Decumani Hotel de Charme can be a bit of a shock. It's in the heart of old Naples and we were unprepared for the graffiti (such a shame!) and general rundown state of the surrounding buildings, and the entrance is a little hard to find. However, the hotel occupies the second floor of what was a 17th century palace and once you step out of the lift, you enter another world. Our room was delightful - spacious, with a very high ceiling with what appeared to be original decorated beams, and quality linen on the large and comfortable bed. We loved the fact that just feet away across the street, Neapolitan locals carried on with their everyday lives. The breakfast room is extraordinary and the breakfast - especially the delicious fruit salad - very nice. We also enjoyed being able to buy a bottle of wine which was brought to us to drink on the terrace one evening. The location is great for exploring, with some lovely restaurants nearby and we were so please to be staying here rather than, for example, a hotel near the 'new castle' area down by the port or near the railway station. I particularly want to mention the hotel staff who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. My husband had phoned from the train to let them know we would need help finding a doctor as soon as we arrived as I was very unwell, and we were assured this wouldn't be a problem. Federica, especially, was very helpful in directing us to the emergency department of a nearby public hospital, advising that this was the quickest way to see a doctor. (The hospital was an experience in itself, but this was the right advice as I got the treatment and medication I needed and the medical staff were very kind). For the rest of our stay, all the staff (even those I hadn't seen before, so it must have been a bit of a talking point!) asked after my health. We received lots of good advice (again from Federica, but I'm sure all the staff are just as helpful) about nearby restaurants and highlights of the local area. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and wish the owners and their team every success as they further develop this amazing building.
