“Great value, great service, beautiful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2011

La Scalinatella is a wonderful hotel, well situated, close enough to the action yet far enough away to enjoy the peace of Capri. The rooms are beautiful, well appointed and with a gorgeous view of marina Picola.
The service is incredible. We had a lunch prepared for us that was one of the best meals we had on our trip. The waiter asked us what we wanted and they prepared it for us. Talk about giving the client what he wants....
It truly is five star service at reasonable prices for Capri. I would definitely go back and would recommend it highly.

Room Tip: We had a junior suite, make sure they give you one with a view

Our group of five booked three rooms in April, taking advantage of a special promotion whereby each room was only 250 euros per night. Imagine our delight when we were upgraded to Junior Suites with sea views, rooms that were priced at 750 euros per night during high season! From the moment we were met at the ferry docks, where our bags were whisked away by a small electric transport vehicle ( Capri is mostly a pedestrian only town) to the day we left, all our need were met or answered by the extremely kind staff of the hotel, especially Giorgio and Gennaro. Our rooms were spotless and completely sound proof. We ate breakfast on the outdoor patio, and the meal itself went beyond the standard croissant and coffee so common in European hotels. Our only regret was not knowing that we could have had seconds or asked for items like eggs, fruit cup, meat etc. without being charged extra. So order whatever you would like as there are no hidden costs! The hotel is situated on the lovely Via Tragara and just a short stroll away from the famous Faraglioni rocks that is a must see in Capri. All in all a beautiful hotel, on a lovely avenue, located on an island of paradise! If I am ever back in Capri, I would definitely stay at this hotel again, but only in off season as otherwise the price is prohibitive to the average tourist.

We had the good fortune of staying at La Scalinatella for four nights in August. The setting is divine, the people who run the hotel were wonderful and the rooms and services can't be surpassed.
Capri is a dazzling island set above the turquoise sea. The weather in the summer is perfect....cloudless skies and temperatures in the mid-80's. The hotel is set into the cliffs with a dramatic view. Our room was large with a very spacious bath and full private terrace. A full delightful breakfast is included in the price of the room. You practically jump out of bed in the morning anticipating the pleasure of sitting on the hotel of the terrace, overlooking the sea and drinking your coffee. Each day the hotel managers helped us design a wonderful itinerary - whether it was sunbathing, swimming and lunch or sightseeing. At night, they made dinner reservations for us - and at each restaurant we were warmly greeted and given a choice table. At one restaurant the waiter welcomed us to paradise and I would have to agree.

This was our favorite hotel of the honeymoon! Room was incredible and the view unbeatable. But our favorite part was the service and attention to detail. Special thanks to Giorgio at the front desk who made our trip perfect! Hope to be back soon!!!

My husband and I recently spent two nights at La Scanintella as part of a 10 day trip to the Amalfi Coast region. My only regret was that we didn't devote more time on our trip to Capri and La Scalinatella. The hotel staff was tremendous and even though we were only there for two nights we felt as welcome as guests who return every year. This hotel has so much personality -from the staff to the beautiful architectural details and furnishings of the room and the delicious food and wine at the restaurant. There was really no mistaking that we were in Italy and we loved it. We have been lucky enough to stay at nice hotels around the world and this is our favorite! We aspire to be returning guests!

The La Scalinatella was a hotel we stubled across when searching for a 3 nights stay in Capri. The reviews online were great, and the hotel website was promising. But as usual when reading hotel reviews and especially the hotel website, they often write stuff that may be a bit exaggerated, so our expectations were moderate when arriving Capri. But NEVER have we been so wrong. The hotel is even BETTER than the web site says and the photos show. The service that this 30 room hotel offers is the BEST I have even experienced. The fic everything you ever wanted to do while visiting the island. The concierge service is truly amazing, and the hotel maids offer a service never seen anywhere else. As soon as you leave the room for an hr or so, they turn down the room as quickly as an eye-blink. You feel like they all know you from the first time you enter the hotel until you leave. The breakfast and the view the hotel offers from the terrace is stunning. We have now stayed here 3 nights in this gorgeous hotel, and we are just looking for an excuse to come back SOON. May and September they claim are the best times of the year to visit (Sept BEST).

Room Tip: Junior suite with a sea view - Private terrace.

Visited capri for the second time last year. The first time round we stayed at the Quisisana in the centre of Capri. Very luxurious, as expected by the pricing, but really a little big and impersonal for our tastes. This time round we stayed at its sister hotel, the scalinatella. Much smaller, and a little more off the beaten track, albeit still in a very good position. For whatever reason, it is a 4 star as opposed to 5...and can only assume its some quirk of the rating system. This is a 5 star hotel, both in terms of elegance and service, which was impeccable. will definately be going back....when we can afford it.
