The property owners where I was staying in Sant'Agnello invited me to accompany them and some of their friends on an "excursion" to Capri. Nothing was mentioned about Villa Jovis until we arrived on the island via a hired boat which let us off at Marina Piccola on the north side of the island. I had no idea what an uphill hike it would be, and at age 70 I was definitely the eldest in the group. I had to stop a few times while taking all the steps up from the marina, but after we reached Capri town and found the walkway lined with beautiful villas I was fine, probably because I stopped several times to enjoy the views and take pictures. It was truly a memorable day. The ruins were amazing, and the small herd of pigmy goats were a special unexpected treat. I'm hoping to go again next fall, with or without hiking partners.
