“A great hike!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

The hike up and the amazing history. And the view-always the view!
Wear good walking shoes, though and walk up, up, up toward the heavens!

“Morning visit to supreme place at the top of Capri”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

If you arrive at Capri:buy a day ticket for combined funicolare and coaches on Capri. From Capri town head for Villa Jovis at once, have your coffee away from the piazza which is overcrowded and overpriced.
Villa Jovis is spectecular and very quiet in the morning. On your way do not forget to visit the municipal park at the foot of Villa Jovis. The park offers fantastic views and is free. The place is run by a local retired person who is very friendly.Villa Jovis is inexpensive, however, do bring a guidebook as information on panels is scarce. It would be great if somebody would invest in making an audiotour that people can rent. I really missed it here!

“not for the wimpy walker but worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

If you like your antiquity and are a hearty walker and don't mind sweating as you travel 3 kilometers uphill, you will be enchanted by the views and the sheer wonder of this emporer's summer home. If the opulence of Capri makes you a bit sick, you'll understand how it got started here. The walk takes you through outer Capri. You'll see beautiful homes. Take pictures of the ceramic "nameplates" of the homes. Then have someone who can read Italian /Neapolitan translate. The names and sayings are priceless.

“Still in ruins”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

There are some stunning views from the Villa Jovis ruins. It's a very long hike and would only recommend it if you're into seeing the ruins. There are plenty of other places on the island that are easier to get to just for views. One plus is that it's pretty empty. I guess the hike scares them off, so it's a good place to go to get away from the crowds.

“Amazing ruins and views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

It's quite an uphill walk to get to Villa Jovis but it's a beautiful walk along old Villas and views. There are a few little shops and restaurants along the way but you should bring some water. If you're lucky you get to see a bunch of cute goats shortly before you get to Villa Jovis cause we only saw them on the walk up, but not on the way down. The Villa itself is pretty amazing and a must see for history buffs. Tiberius supposedly threw unwanted servants off the cliffs and there are quite some cliffs to get nervous looking down upon...We also wanted to visit nearby Villa Lysis, but it's closed on Mondays, so make sure the sites are open when you want to visit.
