“Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2010

Very impressed by hotel. Located on main square close to all the main restaurants, bars and shops. Very nice decor. Fabulous breakfast. Sky bar has amazing views over the Bay of Naples. Only down side due to wooden floors there can occasionally be scraping noises from rooms above which woke us up!

I chose Hotel Plaza based on reviews on Tripadvisor and had high expectations as we arrived in Sorrento. The hotel was exactly what i had hoped for, clean, modern, friendly with great decor and service throughout our stay. The rooms are small but that is what i expected and the clean bathrooms and modern decor more that made up for it.

The roof top terrace is great and although the pool is small it is big enough for a quick dip as the sun gets hotter during the day. Raphaelle on reception was extremely helpful with recommendations for restaurants that were all really nice.....some were a bit off the beaten track so without his help we wouldnt have seen them. The hotel in the main is very quiet but you can hear some noise from other people's bathrooms that could be a problem if you are a light sleeper but it didnt bother us too much.

Overall a great hotel which i would recommend to anyone heading to Sorrento.

Thank you very much for your review! We are glad to read that the Plaza met your expectations. Talking about the size of our rooms, we would like to mention that you booked a standard classic double room which indeed is a smaller room though perfectly adequate as you said. However, the Plaza also has a number of comfort and superior rooms that are much larger. Something to bear in mind hopefully on your next visit to the Plaza. Regards.

I booked the Plaza for a romantic week-long trip for my partner and myself - the holiday was to celebrate his birthday and I based my choice of hotel on the strength of reviews on Trip Advisor - it truly didn't dissapoint! I chose the 'classic' double room which was compact but with everything we needed, including a small safe which was very handy and useful for peace of mind when out for the day.

The bathroom included simple but useful things such as a hairdryer attached to the wall, bightly lit mirror, powerful above-head shower (with handheld shower option also) and a bidet (which we didnt use but its good to have the option!). Our room was kept well-cleaned throughout our stay and the bed was very comfortable - the room was situated right by the lift and was below the pool on the top floor of accomodation but pleasingly, these didnt cause any sound problems (and I am a very light sleeper!) so thats very positive - the pool closes at 7pm each night so you dont need to worry about noise from the pool in the evening or at night time - you could hear muffled sounds from the pool waterfalls during the day but that was the extent of noise from the pool really so no problems there! In a way its a shame the pool can't be used in the evening as its a beautiful setting for sunsets, though you are allowed to keep using the roof terrace past 7pm so this makes up for it and you can see fantastic views of Vesuvius in the distance and of the local area in general.

The pool is compact but is fine for the capacity of guests-it could get busy at times but there was always enough room for everyone and late in the afternoon it gets quite nice and quiet if you fancy a bit more of a peaceful swim. The waterfall and bubbles in the pool turn on with buttons and were really enjoyable and refreshing! The breakfasts were brilliant! I am vegetarian but found plenty to eat-fresh pastries, cakes, fruit, juices, cereal, yogurt, cooked breakfast (bacon, sausage for meat eaters-I stuck with scrambled egg on toast with tomato) and more...plus you can eat as much as you want which means you won't need to eat again til dinner!

The only slight negatives about this hotel are that the bar prices are a bit high- I recall it was 8.50 Euros for a cocktail, 4 Euros for a fruit juice but as new travellers to the area will soon learn, Sorrento is quite an expensive destination anyway and this bar is quite special - its very clean and beautifully decorated, extremely modern and the bar staff are fantastic - they are very happy to serve you at your table and often provided free bar snacks if we attended not too late in the evening - they are also very polite and helpful so really, the slightly high prices for drinks are well worth it.

A slight negative if you enjoy watching TV on holiday is that the only English channels the TV picked up were the repetitive CNN and BBC News - not ideal if you fancy watcing a bit of light TV to wind down in the evenings or when chilling out away from the most intense heat of the day but this didn't matter too much as we were more interested in exploring the local area then sitting in watching the box and you can always read a book instead!

Overall the Plaza is a fabulous hotel with staff who are very helpful - those working behind the desk were able to answer all our queries on activities and finding places to visit and they were always cheerful and friendly. I'm so pleased it was such a great experience for us and can't wait to return in the near future!

3 nights here and our kids didn't want to leave! Gorgeous roof-top pool with great views, breakfast fit for a king (huge selection) and professional staff make this place unforgettable. They offer parking if available which is great as Italy Car Parks are quite expensive. If no parking available on site, there is a car park across the street (very handy) for 20 euros for 24 hours. Contact them direct for better price (we paid 193 euro a night for family of 4) plus got the parking for half price. Highly recommend.

This lovely modern hotel is located in a quiet but central location in Sorrento so is within easy walking distance to all the sights/restaurants. Our room was quite small but clean and comfortable.

When we arrived late on our first night, they welcomed us with a glass of fizz and appetizers as it was our anniversary - a very nice touch.

Good service during our whole stay and the breakfasts are fantastice! Lovely bar as well. The roof terrace with pool and loungers and great view over the Bay of Naples was another plus point.

Would definitely stay there again if we went back to Sorrento. Good value for money.

This hotel is right off Piazza Tasso - the main center where everyone goes - day and night. Hotel is very clean - and contemporary. Staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The room had really good air conditioning - which was key because it was soooo hot when we were in town. This was the best air conditioning we had our entire trip - and the best night sleep. They have a cool roof top pool which was very nice to be able to cool off in. Staff had great restaurant recommendations - some with complimentary shuttles to pick us up and bring us back. I would stay here again.

Hotel Plaza was in an amazing location. It was minutes to the train station (which you can take to Pompeii) and the main town square and shopping. It was about 10-15 minutes down to the water (where you can grab the boat to Capri). We highly recommend the hotel as it had an amazing brunch, great location and very clean rooms. And the staff was amazing with our 10 month old. There is a computer downstairs for guests to use for internet access. The pool is quite cold (not heated) but our daughter loved it and it had amazing views of the water and the rest of Sorrento. Would highly recommend to people going to Sorrento.
