“Great location, lovely staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

We had a lovely stay here. The hotel is very central and easy to reach station, port, main square. All the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, even opening breakfast early for us when we had to leave on early flight. The room was small but had everything we needed including aircon and free wifi. We slept very well on the comfortable beds. Would definitely recommend for the price. Easy to reach Pompeii,Herculaneum, Vesuvius, Capri etc. and Sorrento was a lovely little town. Nowhere was too busy at this time of year - it might be a different story in Summer!!

The room we got was a little small but besides that everything was perfect - clean and nice to stay in and the most central location.
The staff were extremely nice and helpful and did whatever they could to make our stay enjoyable.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

My husband and I stayed at this hotel 4 nights in March, 2013. It really seemed to be much more of an inn than a hotel to us. The reception area was small but decorated nicely. The lift fits one person and 1 suitcase. Because of a cancelled flight from Frankfurt, missed connections, etc, we'd had a 12 hour travel day and were looking forward to relaxing in our room for awhile before finding dinner at a local cafe. When we reached our room we were were shocked at how tiny it was. If you're expecting American hotel sized rooms you will be very disappointed. We couldn't fit both of us and our large luggage in the room at the same time. I stood in the doorway while hubby unpacked (meaning he unloaded his suitcase in a pile on the bottom of the wardrobe). He then stowed his suitcase and I was able to enter the room and pile my clothes in the other 1/2 of the wardrobe. There was a desk and chair but if you sat at the desk the other person was blocked from getting across the room and would have to crawl across the bed. The bathroom was clean and modern but too small to share mirror or sink space. There was a small TV suspended from the ceiling that only got 3 stations and only 1 was English speaking (CNN). Since we faced the main street we heard a lot of traffic noise and road construction. That being said, the reception desk was staffed with friendly people who spoke English well. We had no trouble getting an extra pillow (or getting our blanket back when housekeeping removed it from our room for some reason). When the Wi-Fi wasn't working well in our room we were allowed to use the computer desk in the reception area to check email free of charge (usually it was 2 euros). The only other minor criticism I have is this. The itinerary we received from our travel agent indicated that breakfast was included with our room. However, the hotel's paperwork stated "room only" so were were told we'd be charged 5 euros each if we ate breakfast there. We did so on the 1st day while we waited to hear from our travel agent. At check out later in the week, when the matter had still not been resolved, we had to pay the 10 euros. I think it would have been good customer service to have dismissed that fee given the situation.

We stayed at this hotel in March 2011. Nothing fancy, basic arrangments, small rooms with hard bed, and small shower. However, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! Breakfast was typical with pastires, coffee, juices, some cold deli meats, cheeses, bread & fresh fruit. Perfect start to a wonderful day of sightseeing! Absolutely loved the town!!! Very quick walk from Circumvesuviana train station to hotel. The next day we chose to take the SITA bus to Almafi so we could get great views from the higher seats. Super cheap, (lots of stops) & it take s a bit longer than private driver, but so worth it to be immersed in with the locals going about their daily commute. Plus the busses rule the road, everyone gets out of their way so they can take the tight turns down the narrow streets.

Room Tip: Higher floor facing the back of the hotel will give you a partially obstructed view of the bay.

Stayed in this hotel for a week at the start of Oct 2012 with my Husband.

The room we had was compact, but the bathroom was a decent size and everything was modern and very clean. We enjoyed the balcony looking over the Corso Italia. It's the main thoroughfare through Sorrento and it's a great spot for people watching.

The staff were very friendly and the breakfast offered a good start to the day with a limited but tasty continental selection of rolls, croissants, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, yogurts and plenty of the homemade cakes.

The best thing about this hotel was probably the central location. As mentioned in previous reviews, it's right around the corner from the train station and most of the main buses stop there for trips all over the Amalfi Coast. For the price, it's great value and if you're looking for a good base to do some exploring give it a go.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony over Corso Italia

I stayed in Sorrento for three nights in September of 2012 and can't say enough good things about the hotel. Probably the most convenient location in the city to see the sites, 3 minute walk from the Circumvesuviana train stop, which is also the site where you pick-up the SITA bus to take a trip down the Amalfi coast. The hotel is located on Corso Italia, where all the great shops and restaurants are located. Piazza Tasso is at most, 150 yards away. There is a fantastic little take out eatery right next door if you need to pick up a late night snack or cup of coffee. The staff is top notch, and as you can tell by all the reviews, you couldn't have wished to have a better person to welcome you to their hotel than Theresa. She's the best! You will be awoken each morning by the smell of the pastries she bakes and it will put a smile on your face, leaving a long-lasting memory of your stay. They are that good! Along with the mouth-watering pastires, there are lots of fresh fruit, juices, coffee, cereal, yogurts and if I remember correctly, a selection of cheese and meat/cold cuts. For Americans, if you haven't traveled to Europe before, don't expect to find traditional breakfast items like pancakes, bacon and eggs, waffles, etc. Theresa and the rest of the staff (I believe it was Philomena and Mark?) are outstanding. Theresa lent me an umbrella to take a daytrip to Pompeii on a rainy day and they also helped me out to connect to wi-fi on my phone. All spoke great English so you won't have problems communicating if you don't speak Italian. I traveled solo on my two weeks in Italy so I wasn't that concerned about the size of the room. It was average size by European standards, smaller by American standards, but very clean, quiet and I had no problems with the confort of the beds. Walls are a little thin but it didn't adversely affect my sleep. Though I didn't have a room that faced the street, I found the area to be quiet at night despite being right on Corso Italia. Wasn't able to check out the top deck as it was a bit rainy for two nights and I was out on the town the third night. TV had four channels at most, with one English channel (I believe it was CNN-World) but why are you watching TV when you are in one of the most beautiful places in the world?! Anyway, I highly recommend this hotel. Will definitely book this hotel again when I come back to this wonderful country and city.

the hotel has excellent location in the very center of the city, personnel especially the reception is very helpful, the rooms are smaller than we expected, the breakfast was weak for us especially for the children..(no egg, just 1 kind of cheese)
