Many of the reviews on here mention the view from the rooms and roof terrace across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius and it cannot be underestimated. Opening the blinds to let the sun stream in and reveal the gorgeous blue expanse of sea is surely one of lifes great pleasures. It didn't, however, rain when we we there so can't comment on what that would be like. Breakfast was perfect and the levels of service from the staff exceptional. What takes Maison La Minervetta to another level for me is the decor of the whole hotel, from the art on the walls to the areas that led off the main staircase which tumbles down to the lovely harbour below. We ate twice at Delfino which is situated below the hotel and it was superb on both occasions. In the interests of balance I'll moan about the sketchy wi-fi and the lack of a restaurant but neither of these things prevent me thinking this might be the best hotel I have stayed in in Europe. Location is perfect, just outside Sorrento but easily walkable. It took me five minutes to decide I loved this place, its one of those hotels that just feels right. And then there is the view.
