We stayed at the Michelengelo for 5 nights in July/August. The room we had was on the small side although it had a large and pretty terrace, but it did back onto the railway line. Trains don't run through the night but you can certainly hear them when they pass right behind your room! The room and the rest of the hotel was kept very, very clean by attentive cleaning staff. We had booked a double room and this trip was part of our honeymoon, but were given twin beds and told they would change this, they didn't. We found some staff to be very rude and abrupt and on checking out were charged for bar drinks we had not ordered! We hadnt even been in the hotel bar so im not sure what system they have for charging drinks!
The hotel is very close to the centre with some lovely restaurants closeby.
We wanted to just chill out by the pool in our short stay in Sorrento but the hotel pool and sunbeds are in the shade until about 1:30pm each day so we couldnt subathe, but we did enjoy relaxing there each afternoon. Overall a very average hotel which I don't think deserves a 4 star rating.
