“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

We chose to stay in Sorrento, a lovely town from which we could easily visit several towns on the Amalfi coast by ferry and also Pompeii by train. We stayed in this wonderful hotel for 6 nights. It is well located by the Ancient Valley of the Mills and very close to the main square. Our room, was extremely comfortable and quiet, the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and breakfasts were delightful. All the staff, and particularly Vincenzo, were extremely pleasant and helpful. We would certainly recommend this Hotel.

Now in Rome after 3 nights in charming, beautiful Sorrento and a near perfect stay at the first class Antiche Mura. Immediately I would say I'd stay here again. Great location, just off the center of town but walkable to all you need. Offered us a choice of rooms as we are a family of four with 2 teenagers. We opted for a room with a loft bedroom for the kids. The decor was beautiful and cheerful. Breakfast more than adequate with good service. Pool bar and cafe equally good. Front desk top notch all the way. Exceptionally clean, quiet room, comfortable. flowers and a bottle of champagne for us in our room on arrival. Felt like Ritz Carlton standards. We all loved this hotel, and this very delightful city. They arranged a car for us which met us in Naples Central train terminal; a late decision for us as we were going to take the train to Sorrento, but I must say we are glad we did it, worth every cent. Unless you are really trying to save, have them arrange taxi from the hotel. Carrying the luggage on the circumvesuviana would have been a real nightmare. We had a great driver who was very friendly and pointed out the sights along the way. I digress; stay here, you will love it.

The best place we stayed on our vacation in Italy!! The hotel is amazing as well as the staff. They took care of everything for us and the rooms are everything we were hoping for. We got a balcony room and overlooked an old gorge with fabulous views. Breakfast is included and this largest selections we had while in Italy.

Room Tip: Family room with balcony view.

Any hotel is only as good as its staff and our stay at this hotel was made perfect by the staff who were all so friendly and clearly wanted all guests to enjoy their holiday. We would certainly recommend the Antiche Mura to anyone wanting a smaller hotel with very high standards.

We spent four wonderful nights at this hotel in early June 2013. It was wonderful! The staff was very helpful (from booking excursions, providing directions, to letting us borrow a converter). The room was perfect for our family of four...large comfy bed for my husband and myself, a daybed for one child and a twin bed for the other child (no cots or rollaways!). The bathroom had a double vanity, as well as a long tub/shower. Again, this worked very well for a family sharing a bathroom. Breakfast was bountiful and the option to dine in the garden was lovely. The kids spent a couple of afternoons in the pool and enjoyed it. Really enjoyed the excursions we booked through the hotel (cheese making, Capri, Amalfi Drive). Location of the hotel can't be beat...about a block from Piazza Tasso in the heart of Sorrento. We loved staying here and hope to return some day.

I booked a junior suite for me, my wife and two teenage children. When we checked in we were told that we received a complimentary upgrade to a full suite. Fantastic view of the gorge adjacent to the hotel. Location was about 100 yards from Piazza Tasso which is the main square in Sorrento. Hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful. Complimentary morning breakfast was fabulous and extensive (pastries, prosciutto, cheese, fresh fruit, eggs, etc.). It also included coffee, milk, pineapple juice, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Service was top-notch. It was a bit pricey and I have slept in more comfortable beds. Overall a great choice that i would highly recommend to others.

I want to start by saying that I know it was kind of out of the hotels control but the room shuffle was a little off putting to start our stay. I would loved to stay in our original room but I guess there was an issue with the prior guest and repair could not be made until the next day. We were offered a replacement but it was not really what we were prepared for. They did give us a different room but honestly not my choice either but it was better than the first. Beyond that issue.....
The hotel is perfectly situated if you want to stay in the center of what is happening in Sorrento. Lots of choices for food. We were very happy with the location. We walked to both marinas and the passagiata (sp?) each night was wonderful as they blocked off the one street to most traffic.
The hotel arranged a wonderful driver to pick us up at the port and he suggested Pompeii. Not pressuring us what so ever. Since we had been talking about going anyway we decided to take the opportunity and were not disappointed. Our driver waited for us as we explored for about 2 hours. Perfect! The driver was incredible as he pointed out all kinds of things and without skipping a beat, got us to the hotel with out problems. We had hoped to arrange him to drive us through the Amalfi Coast but he was already booked with airport transfers. We did get a different driver and he was almost as good. ;) We also had the hotel arrange them to give us a ride to the train station. A wonderful gentleman who walked us all the way into the station to the platforms and made sure we knew what train to get on and everything. I need to know the name of the car service! Incredible every step of the way.
Now back to the hotel...rooms were good size. We were in need of a king/queen bed with a single for our son and we were not cramped at all in any of the 3 rooms were saw. Not the small European hotel rooms we had been warned about at all. Bathroom was good size with a toilet, bidet, sink and shower/bathtub. Plenty of closet space. Breakfast was tasty but the setup is a little cramped at times. So many choices and too many people squeezing into the small space to get at it. But the food was delicious and plenty of pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit (fresh and delicious), breads with a toaster, eggs and bacon/sausages. Juices and water to choose from and when you sit down a wait staff to ask what you want coffee, espresso, tea...
Also they have a little stand out by the pool that is open short hours with good food in the afternoons, maybe until 6-7pm? The wait staff out there is outstanding. My son loved the one man's singing and giggled every time. They brought us some good wine and the gave me a list of others to buy to take home later. The setting is in the shade of the lemon trees so being next to the pool made for a beautiful setting. The cat is entertaining as well.
Overall, I would stay there again and hope the room issues were a one time thing.

Room Tip: We were offered a discount when we payed cash so ask.
