We chose this hotel based on TA reviews and were not disappointed.
Its ideally located, only five mins walk from the station, two mins from the main square and a pleasant 15 min stroll to the harbour (though longer to come back up the hill to the town). There are countless restaurants within a five min walk of the hotel, so plenty of choice for dinner.
Although centrally placed it is just far enough away to be quiet. The pool was not open when we stayed in early April but looked inviting and the garden around the pool was very pleasant to relax in.
The staff were unfailingly helpful particularly the bar staff and the breakfast staff.
The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of fruit, cold meats, cheese, cereals, bread and the renowned cakes. There were cooked items but these seemed less appetizing and we didnot try them.
The standard room was fine with an excellent bathroom. No view to speak of but we weren't in the room long enough to miss it. The TV station selection was also limited but again not what we had gone on holiday for.
All in all an excellent base which perfectly met our expectations and needs.

We stayed at this hotel for a week in March and I cannot think of a single fault to report.

The staff were, without exception, friendly & helpful and the hotel is only 150 yards from the main square but is not noisy (being set back from the road and double glazed).

No hotel restaurant for the evening but there are loads within 2 - 3 minutes walk. Breakfasts were spectacular (hot and cold buffet plus local cakes, fruit etc) and the room (a standard - but not the ones with high up windows) was clean and tidy with aircon, a fancy shower with multiple jets, mini bar and comfortable bed.

If you're thinking of visiting Sorrento then don't hesitate. There are lots of other hotels but many of them are on the fringe of town and high up - great views but some hard walking if you go for a meal/drink in the evening.

Stayed at the Antiche Mura in April. Wanted to leave space between staying and reviewing.

Anyway, the staff are brilliant, and the hotel is in a great location. Just a bit disappointed with the room. Paid 149 euros per night in a room stating that it was 140 euros per night. Alright, not a great sum but still a negative.Think I was a bit miffed which is why I wanted to delay reviewing.

Don't get me wrong, as a base the hotel is great and the staff could not be friendlier. Breakfast is also excellent. But the room was not one that made you think that you could spend a sunny afternoon there. No balcony, which we were originally led to believe we would have, and a very poor view. We could see the sea but it was a bit like that Fawlty Towers sketch.

I would not put people off from staying at the Antiche Mura, but on the other hand would not really recommend it either.

Just back from a 10 day stay at the excellent Antiche Mura in Sorrento.

Staff - Without exception the staff were extremely friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The best staff that we have experienced.

Location - A minute's walk away from the main square in Sorrento, but not on the busy main street. The hotel also has a lovely pool area surrounded by lemon trees where you can relax in peace and quiet.

Rooms - Spacious, clean and air-conditioned. Wine and fruit were awaiting us on our arrival.

Breakfast - Delicious buffet breakfast. Loads of fresh fruit to choose from and a choice of meats, cheeses etc. Also an incredible choice of pastries made by the chef.

I would highly recommend this hotel to everybody.

A wonderful hotel with a great staff.
The location is very central- easy to walk to shopping, restaurants, train station and buses.
The facility is outstanding- guest rooms common rooms and a beautiful garden and pool area.
Full buffet American breakfast with scrupulous pastries.

I would definitely stay there again without hesitation

Friendly staff, excellent location and large comfortable rooms at a good price - that makes for an excellent review!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 days in March and this hotel turned out to be an excellent choice for a rest. The location is unbeatable and scenic yet close to the center.

The hotel gardens are beautiful and they had as much fesh squeezed orange juice as you can drink for breakfast, along with a decent "buffet" style spread. Over all the best placed we stayed in 2 weeks in Italy - highly recommended.

My husband and I just returned from our stay at the Hotel Antiche Mura (April 1 - April 8). We booked the hotel based on the wonderful reviews here, and we were not disappointed. The Antiche Mura is a small family-run hotel, and, boy, does the Savarese family know how to run a hotel!! It's one of the best managed hotels we've stayed at and quite a good value to boot.

The public areas and guest rooms are very attractive and well-maintained. The room we booked was one of the smaller ones but certainly adequate for our needs. We loved the pretty tile floors in the room, and the bathroom was large and very modern.

The location of the hotel is convenient to everything in town and to transportation for day trips out of town, and the setting overlooking a deep gorge is quite dramatic. There was some construction going on in the building next to the hotel when we were there, but we were not bothered by it at all.

Starting our day in the pretty breakfast room or out on the adjacent patio surrounded by lemon and orange trees was a real treat. We looked forward to it every single day. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the choices at the breakfast buffet were many.

We spent some pleasant evenings sipping wine in the elegant bar near the lobby. Antonino, the bar tender, was so charming and gracious.

The Antiche Mura has an absolutely professional, friendly staff. They are a class act. This is an exceptionally well-run hotel. Highly recommended.
