“There are issues with noise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

I cannot say enough positives about the staff! The rooms are immaculate and the front desk staff are so helpful and nice. The location is great and there is even a great and under utilised roof top terrace with nice seats and lounge chairs. My main difficulty is how the sound carries beyond belief. The women above me must never take their high heels off and seem oblivious to how there are rooms beneath them. Even after I complained to the front desk the women kept walking on their shoes until they went out again at midnight (I had the room next to the stairs so it sounded like 3-4 of them came down the stairs quite loudly at midnight - no hope of sleep before that point). The floors have no carpets so noise just echos every where. A bit of noise is expected but every time someone comes down the hall if they are talking, wheeling luggage or even having the volume on their tv up a bit high this can be heard in the rooms. Yes, this hotel does have the smallest shower I have ever seen but that didn't bother me. The room is a good size and the bed is really comfortable. Thr breakfast is basic with a coffee machine, yogurt, cakes and cereal which works for me. My only complaint is the noise level is a problem if you want a decent nights sleep. This is why I marked value at 3 and not higher.

Small, cozy and very confortable Hotel right in the in the center of Sorrento.
Some rooms have balconys overlooking the street (Google map is not showing it correctly)t
Manager and staff are friendly and very helpful.
The shower is the reason for the loss of one star.It is really a shower box (Hope they change it in the future) beig difficult for large people.
Lift is unusual, but funny. It is like an aisle, so if you are a group of four, you will make a queue inside as entrey/exit doors are opposite. .
Wi-fi works fine everywhere.
A real catch considering Sorrento's high prices.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the side street are quieter.

The Hotel Nice is right next to the train station and is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Sorrento. We stayed there for 3 nights in total. It's a great hotel for those who are travelling the amalfi coast and stopping off in Sorrento for a few nights. The rooms are air conditioned well and have a safe and hair dryer. The window is fairly small and ours did not lock very easily. The bathroom was clean but the shower was either freezing cold and powerful or warm and drizzly. If you're anything like me, I look forward to my showers but here I could not which slightly spoiled it for me. The wifi connection was good in the hallway but poor signal in the bedroom. We went to have breakfast once but then decided that the local cafe next door was a lot better. You get what you pay for and it was quite good value for money. If you're looking for a comfortable stay (as the pillows were a bit hard) then splash out on a 3* plus but in Sorrento is known for being expensive.

I stayed here August 2013 and I was very comfortable. The room was clean and had everything you would need for a basic holiday. The location was fantastic and a very short walk to Sorrento's main square, Piazza Tasso. They offered a good buffet breakfast.

The main advantage of this hotel is the location. It is located just a few steps from the train station in Sorrento. As a result, traveling to any place on the Amalfi coast is a breeze. The bus that goes along the coast also starts in front of the Circumvesuviana train station - and staying in this hotel helped us get to anywhere with no trouble. Also, Sorrento is a small town, and the market place and restaurants are all within walking distance from here.

The room was ok, and the window did not shut out the noise coming from the piazza below. This was a concern for us. The shower cubicle was too small, with no place to even turn around. No complaints on the beds. The room was clean, and there was a lift to go to the higher floors which helped as we had heavy luggage.

The breakfast was a huge disappointment. First because, the lady who keeps the breakfast hall was far from friendly. As most of the items were over, she showed no interest in replenishing those items. Instead, she let the guests finish whatever what left over in the breakfast buffet before filling up any dish, and that too reluctantly. This was definitely not professional. Also, she gave us some frozen donuts, which didn't taste fresh at all. My stomach was upset after the first day's breakfast, and after that I stuck to the cereals and coffee only. This experience let down my impression of the hotel by a large extent. Either the hotel has to improve its breakfast or stop it completely - this would at least not leave a bad taste in the guests

The rooftop of the hotel is a nice place to relax, and also gives a nice view of the piazza below. There is a good restaurant next to the hotel where we had most of our dinners, where the food and service both were quite good.

If you are visitng Sorrento on budget, this is a ok place to stay close to the train station - but skip the breakfast at the hotel.

Really nice hotel. The father and daughter are really friendly and very helpful. Rooms are cute with a good view, and heaps of TV channels :) perfect location a minute's walk from the train station. Definitely recommend!

We stayed for 5 nights in October and after two nights we were knackered after 2 sleepless nights! We knew that the hotel is located at the main street but because usually we pick this kind of hotels for the city breaks we thought that we could manage some noise. But we didn't! All day and night the noise of cars, moppets, screaming people (the pizzeria is just next door), the youth demo in the morning, the chain saw noise till 11pm - it was too much for us! It's a good hotel for 1-2 nights but not longer.
Our room wasn't cleaned, especially the bathroom was quite filthy. The pillows were so hard and uncomfy that you couldn't sleep well at all.
The breakfast would be OK if not the most disgusting coffee or rather milky water we have ever had! After 2 days we decided to have breakfast at the nearby pasticceria.
If not the noise, our stay could be pleasant.
The only good thing about the hotel it is location.
I would never recommended it to anybody.
