My husband and I were originally booked to stay at the Sorrento Town Suites in the centre of town, but due to renovations we were moved to the Villa Oriana (which is run and owned by the same family). This B&B exceeded our expectations. The host family were warm and inviting and more than willing to answer travel questions or recommend a great place to eat.

The breakfast was a definate highlight - I loved the homemade jams and cakes whilst my husband loved the freshly squeezed orange juice, the bread with Buffalo mozzarella and home grown tomatoes.

The view from the balcony of the Bay of Naples is breathtaking and you cant help but feel relaxed and calm. About a 15min walk into the main town centre. Some good advice we took, was to hire a car and drive along the Almalfi coast for the day.

I recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from the hussle and bussle of everyday life and re-kindle a little romance!!

  • Liked — Relaxed atmosphere, breakfast, views
  • Disliked — A little far from the town centre

I stayed with an ex here after a ton of research on the web, expecially on TripAdvisor. I've never seen a hotel with all positive reviews. There is always at least one person who has to complain about something, but at the time this small family-run villa was all positive.

We exchanged a few e-mails with the owners, who live in the villa, and when we arrived, one of their grown children picked us up at the bottom of the hill (it is on a tall hill overlooking Sorrento, great view). We got our room which was clean and not a bad size. The room overlooked orange trees, but otherwise you couldn't see much.

The location was pretty good, but you do have to climb up and down a steep hill to get back and forth to the villa. If it is a reasonable hour the family will generally pick you up at the bottom of the hill if you call them.

In the morning, you get a fresh breakfast with the other 3 couples that are also staying at the villa. The breakfast consisted of fresh oranges, squeezed orange juice, homemade orange marmalade from their orange grove, fresh bread, cured meats (salamis, prosciutto i believe), fresh provolone, etc. You can eat inside or outside on the veranda overlooking Sorrento if I remember correctly.

The family is extremely nice and they run a fantastic villa accommodation that I would definitely recommend 110% to anyone staying in the region.

My daughter and I were meant to spend 2 days and nights at this place but due to us going to Salerno instead of Sorrento we ended up in Solerno at 10pm and then caught a bus to Amalfi . The hotel manager there rung the Villa Oriana and explained our dilema. Pasquale spoke to my daughter and advised us to come there next day which we did. It was the highlight of our whirlwind trip to Italy. All the staff were extremely helpful, the surroundings absolutely fabulous, the rooms superbs, the breakfast outstanding and the views from the terrace were beautiful. I could have spent many days there but we were on a very fast trip to Italy. I can highly recommend the Villa Oriana to any one. There was nothing that one could complain about, it was lovely and the highlight of our trip. We also bought a bottle of Maria's Limencello after some taste testing. Thank you to all the staff at the villa. It was such a nice change.

Villa Oriana is on a hill overlooking the bay of Naples. The view is magnificent. You can see Mt. Vesuvius across the bay. Breakfast on the balcony can't be beat. It is a huge buffet with salads, rolls, cakes, homemade marmelade and much more all prepared by Maria and the staff using citrus fruit from the trees on the property. Maria who owns the hotel is very friendly and helpful.

My husband and I have stayed at Villa Oriana several times and will never stay anywhere else in Sorrento. From the perfect white sheets and bed spreads to the blue and white china at breakfast on a terrace with a view that can't be beat (over Sorrento to the water, watching the boats to Capri and Naples go out and return, with Vesuvius in the background), it's idyllic. The family who runs it is so warm and helpful - it really is like having local friends.

Please do note, that the Villa is above Sorrento - that's why you get the great view - but it does mean a brisk walk to town (which we enjoy after dinner!), though cab service is a breeze to get.

  • Liked — All the attributes that come from hosts who really care: hospitality, spotlessly clean, etc.
  • Disliked — It would not be appropriate for disabled travels
