Very nice place to stay, although you have to take the car or bus to go to Sorrento city. Parking is expensive in the city(and all around the Naples area) The view over the bay of Naples is fantastic. We had an apartment with terrace and at night you see the city lights witch give it a great atmosphere. The breakfast is ok with a buffet. Coffee can be better! Overall a great place to stay when you're in Sorrento.

Room Tip: Take an apartment with bay view!

We stayed at Le Terrazze in the last week of October. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable. It is rated as 3* so we were not expecting much more. I can see that in summer it's situation on the east of the peninsula could be an advantage, but beware this means no afternoon sun which can cool things down a lot. We also found that 19* in Sorrento quickly dropped to 13* at the hotel. That said the staff were pleasant, breakfast was good. There are some nice restaurants in the vicinity which will pick you up from the hotel. The lo action is a little isolated but good to reach the Amalfi coast, Pompeii and even the Campi Flegri within 2 hours drive. A pleasant stay but more of a b+b with pool.

Room Tip: All rooms have a superb view of Vesuvius.

One night stop over during our last night on the Amalfi coast. Paid an extra premium to ensure we had a sea view room. Check-in staff were friendly and told us we had been given the BEST room. The terrace was definitely better than the other rooms as it was slightly above them, but the room was disappointing. We were given an apartment which on the face of it sounded good, but in reality wasn't nice. I had intentionally selected a hotel room rather than apartment as well.

The room had an unpleasant musty smell, strongest in the bathroom. We left the tiny bathroom extractor fan on but it didn't improve. I really did not like being in the bathroom. Additionally the shower had been squeezed into a small gap in the wall, like an under stairs cupboard. Once shower door was closed there was no light.

The bedroom had a fireplace, but not one that could be lit as it was too close to the bed (no logs or coal anyway). The room had no windows and so the only sea-view was from outside on the terrace; we could have had this from sitting at the main terrace anyway. No wifi in the room either so had to make my Skype call in public area. Check out was early so we had to leave after breakfast without enjoying the place.

Views are indeed good and breakfast fine - neither amazing nor poor.

If the room was nicer it would have been ok but unfortunately for +€100 we were expecting a much nicer experience. If we'd arrived earlier in the day we would have complained and sought another room.

Room Tip: If you've booked a hotel room and they offer an apartment, be very careful to check it's up...

Just returned from a week long stay at Hotel Risidense Le Terrazze. Never having been to Sorrento before, we booked on the strength of previous reviews, mainly on Tripadvisor. Having had time to reflect since our return home I'd like to make the following points:

We read about the family atmosphere, how great the staff were, supposedly really friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Didn't see any of that at all. On our arrival, there was no introduction from then manager (well ,I assume he's the manager, he spent most of his time on a PC behind the reception desk), and a brief bit of information about the time of breakfast (got told one time from him, another time was listed in the book in the room, and another member of staff told us another time - which meant we got a telling off from a member of staff for going in for breakfast early on our final day before being picked up). Pretty rude, he was too.

The room was small, but had a nice (small) veranda with a nice view. It has a stove and a fridge. No kettle, boil up water if you want a coffee or tea - which you will have to supply yourself.

Breakfast was a disappointment. The coffee tasted cheapo (if you want a cappucino or espresso, be prepared to pay extra), they ran out of teabags within a few days. there's a toaster, cold meats, cheese, boiled eggs, cereal, yoghurt and a choice of cakes.

The hotel is very remote. 2.20 euros for the bus each way. You have to but tickets in advance, you can get them from reception. Don't miss the last bus, we got quoted 45 euros for a taxi from the bus station. You can try walking into Sorrento, takes 45 minutes (not easy in the heat) and is a killer on the legs.

I'm getting fed up writing this, so all I'll say is that Sorrento is a nice place, great places to visit nearby - Vesuvius, Pompei, Capri - but I certainly wouldn't stay at this place again. The staff couldn't care less about you, unless you go to breakfast too early, depending on what time you are told it starts. No thanks from them for staying there, no 'safe trip', no nothing. They will however be looking for cash for the local tax (1 euro per person, per night)

Poor show.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Booked through booking.com to receive a email the day beforw that our booking had been cancelled for no apparent reason. Called the hotel and Alberto answerwd and said that my cc had expired. I said we were still coming and gave him the new cc and all was sorted. Arrived at 9pm and there he was to welcome us and a bottle of his own rwd wine. Its actually very good. The room we had was overlooking the valley with a large terrace next to the pool. Bedroom on one level and the small kitchenette on the lower lever. Room 22.

Breakfast provided which is continental but offers a great selection. The bus stop to Sorrento is right out side the door and is 2.2€ per single trip takes around 25 mins. Bus time table is not worth following as they don't keep to it but there is a bus evert 20 mins. The return is from the station.

Sorrento offers ferrys to the islands and to Naples. Great location quiet great views so well recommended.

Four of us stayed at this Hotel for 5 days. It was a second time and we were again not disappointed. The Staff are very pleasant, Vito and his staff run the restaurant like clockwork and are very pleasant. The rooms very spotless and the staff always checked with us to make sure everything was okay. You felt that the whole staff were like a family and that they were all happy in their work. An outstanding mention to the Chef whose food was excellent and beautifully presented, you could tell he was totally passionate about his work. The hotel is in a great location for the lakes. Thank you all.

Room Tip: The top rooms with Lake View are excellent
