We stayed at Hotel Bristol during our trip to Sorrento in October 2012. The hotel is located just up the hill overlooking Sorrento. It is a short 10 minute walk from the main part of town and it is walkable from the train station if you don't have any luggage or heavy bags. We had no issues walking to/from the hotel at any time of day - we left for a few tours early in the morning and walked back up after a late dinner a few nights without any problem. The walk is well worth the experience of staying at Hotel Bristol. The entire staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. I don't think I've ever been treated as well at a hotel as I have at Hotel Bristol, and I used to travel 100% for my job for a number of years and stayed in hotels all over the world. The staff at the front desk always welcomed us and asked if there was anything we needed every time we went in/out of the hotel. The room (645) and balcony were very large, and the view was amazing. Being higher up on the hill made the view even more amazing. The bathroom was also very large with a strong rain shower head. Aside from the shower not being fully enclosed (which is typically in most European countries) this was one of the best showers I've ever used. The room had blue tile floor and white walls/furniture so it was easy to tell that it was very clean. We had breakfast included with our room rate. The breakfast was the best of what we had in Italy and there were different options each day. We didn't have lunch at the hotel but we did have dinner there one night. We thought the dinner was as good as the other restaurants we ate at in Sorrento and surprisingly the price was not significantly higher for being in a hotel. The wait staff at the restaurant was extremely attentive and always remembered us each morning for breakfast, including what we ordered. We didn't use the roof top pool but it looked very nice when we went to check out the roof top balcony and pool. The hotel also arranged for a driver to take us back to the train station in Naples as we did not want to take the train back after carrying our luggage on the train when we came in to Sorrento from Naples. Overall, this was the best hotel we stayed at on our trip to Italy (Rome, Florence, Sorrento) and we would definitely highly recommend staying at Hotel Bristol. We would definitely stay here again if we visit Sorrento again.
