Normally we tend to book direct in this case we booked through Citalia and was not disappointed.
The Imperial Hotel Tramontano enjoys a wonderful central location with a view over the marina with wonderful views of Mount Vesuvious. The hotel is only minutes away from Sorrento centre with its vibrant cafe culture.
The hotel is away from the main street and has a beautiful courtyard with a hidden garden and pool (totally private). The pool is enclosed and is surround by a subtropical garden and a bar. Within the garden is some spectacular wild life comprising of gecko lizards, wonderful butterflies and birds.
The hotel is decorated with period furniture and has a splendid entrance lobby and a terrace overlooking the bay, which we frequented several times when we returned from our days out to enjoy a cup of coffee and glass of wine.
The restaurant is impressive which also doubles up for breakfast. This also enjoys a splendid view over the bay of Naples. Managed to get a window seat most mornings and enjoyed the coming and goings of cruise ships and the boat out to Capri.
Breakfast food was impeccable (do not expect and English breakfast though), plenty of fresh produce and pastries. The restaurant staff we very courteous, efficient and more importantly, friendly. The restaurant manager went out of his way to be extremely helpful - has been in this position for 20 Years with this family run hotel.
Read several reviews on Trip Advisor regarding being very noisy. Yes there is a road out the front of the hotel, but in no way excessive, just local traffic.
The desk staff were extremely helpful and helped us plan the best for our visit to Sorrento and surrounding area. We booked a local taxi bus through them to visit the Amalfi Coast and was not disappointed with our driver / guide - fantastic sites, fantastic views, great guide and very well presented (Jarago was his name, enjoys people dialog and it showed - would recommend)
The hotel serves as a wonderful base for all major attractions including Capri, Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, Solerno, Ravello and Mt Vesuvius etc
Would recommend, this hotel is a typical period property with period features
Room with a view, garden or sea
