“Excellent place to stay in Sorrento”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

This is a wonderful place to stay in Sorrento. Extremely friendly people, very good restaurant, glorious views of the Gulf of Naples, Capri, and Vesuvius. Unique experience. The legend says that the house belonged to the parents of Torqato Tasso. Do not miss the gardens.

Stayed during a rainy three nights in November with our two little kids (8 and 9). Terrific central location, walked everywhere in Sorrento. Our breakfasts in the hotel were good with special requests honored by Luigi and his staff. The views from our balcony along the coast were awesome. I can imagine what a great place to stay this must be in the summer. Would definitely stay here again.

I have been there for three days in November. The position of the hotel is very good and you are minutes from Tasso Square.
People were very nice and happy to help you with your requests.
It struck me that in the west wing of the hotel was born the poet Torquato Tasso and many writers( Goethe, Keats, Shelley..) were in this hotel for their trip in Italy.
The view from my room was absolutely normal (the pool of the hotel) but the restaurant has an amazing view of the Sorrento gulf and the Vesuvio.
For the price I paid I would expect a better shape for the bathroom, room forniture etc but I think you can't have all together...

Just returned from the Tramontano with friends - what a classy amicable place! Even the rain did not dampen our spirits. The hotel is great and the ambiance first class. Luigi, the manager, is the best along with the entire staff. They took care of our every wish and I wish I were back there right now. The view is outstanding and you even feel important just walking the grounds. Breakfast with Luigi (the maitre 'd) and his staff is delicious and entertaining. We had dinner one night and it was incredibly good for a hotel. The place is spotless with great water pressure. Looking forward to returning there soon.

We stayed at the Imperial Tramontono for 6 nights in late November and could not have been more delighted. Our room was beautiful, large, quiet, clean and comfortable. The balcony overlooked the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. It’s less than a block to the beginning of all the shopping and restaurants in Sorrento. Free parking on site was totally safe. Desk manager Romano, along with all the restaurant and hotel staff, was exceptionally cordial and helpful. The hotel itself is magnificent – clean, bright, well kept yet full of history and old world charm. We always had hot water and good water pressure, plenty of closet space and good lighting. Breakfast was included with the room – delicious pastries, juice, coffee, cereal, eggs and bacon to your order. We didn’t need to use any heating or A/C because the season was perfect to leave the balcony door open and hear the gentle waves against the sand 50’ below while sleeping soundly in the comfortable bed. The gardens on the grounds were spectacular and groomed to perfection. There is a modern, clean elevator just outside the east end of the property that will take you up or down to the ferry just below the hotel for one Euro. Nothing was lacking on our stay and we didn’t want to leave!

Room Tip: Room 212 is a large, quiet room with balcony and a great view of the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius.

This hotel is quite lovely, with a spacious lobby, restaurant, clean rooms and private baths. Walls are a bit thin so you can hear talking in adjourning rooms. The most incredible thing about this hotel is the view. It is built right into the cliffs overlooking the sea and views of Mt. Vesuvius - truly spectacular.
You can also walk to everything in Sorrento so it is a wonderful location.
The ferry to Capri is just below the hotel. Just be sure to check the schedule because the ferry is dependent upon good weather conditions.

Big imposing hotel, sense of history, room was large, clean and comfortable. restaurant was very traditional with good service but... If it doesn't find a way to hold on to it's tradition whilst joining 2012 it will run out of clients. We are in our mid 50's but were amongst the youngest there....the background music was all 1950s and early 60s. We paid over £200 per night for our 2 nights in mid Oct but were expected to pay extra for access to a wi fi connection and then only guaranteed in the lobby area!!! I don't think so......

Room Tip: There wasn't a spA or fitness centre but I can't remove the rating, please remove before pub...
